I read somewhere that "50" is the "new 30".

Ha! That's great!

Being a little past that, I can tell you that mentally a lot of us still feel pretty young -- but sometimes the body gives us not so subtle reminders that we're not.

In terms of hanging around with the undergrads -- it's fun, but not something I'd want to do too often.

I guess that works both ways, doesn't it?

(Or maybe it has something to do with having kids that age or older?)

I wish our alums would come back and do stuff. A lot of times girls who go directly onto grad school in the same university continue to be active (some don't go alum till they get their masters) and hold leadership positions. I think it's fun to have those few women who are really committed to the chapter and want to be with thier sisters. I mean, it's not like you change dramatically uppon graduation!!!
I don't really see a difference in a few years of school (nor do I see a big difference in a few more years, but I realize that not everyone is comfortable with that).

On the age issue, we have a girl who will be 20 when she graduates from college, and my boyfriend just pledged Sigma Nu at 31 (he is so gung-ho and goes to all the events-- you name it he's there). Age gives you experience-- it's how you use it that determines your character.

Cool

For both of you, age is a state of mind! just ask me!

If we as active an alum members do not stay in the thick of things, we are all dead!

We are fighting a battle at the moment, no matter what we do in the positive, the bad always is shown.

I hold the # 1 Card, but it has taken over 600 to keep the Chapter viable! Brothers I did not really know are very close!

This not only includes Brothers from Different Chapters plus many whom are on G C! Many whom are not members of My Fraternity have become Friends also on this site!

This is What We as Greek Orgs. have over all the rest!

Bring Yourselves to a Higher Level!

I suppose it depends on your school.
At mine it was great to see alums at alumni weekend, or maybe the first party of the year. Anything over that and people would start to ask why they didn't have a job, house, spouse, LIFE...

I haven't been back to college since graduation(1998) and don't plan to. It just seems like a part of life that is now in the past. It was great, but there comes a time when you have to grow up and move on.

In my chapter alums were always welcome, but there were a couple of alumni who wore out their welcome by basically causing problems and telling the undergrads that "you can't do anything to me cause I'm alumni". Our alumni association took action against them.

Also a couple of years ago I was at Homecoming, and this girl (think DrunkGirl from SNL) walks in the party and exclaims really loud "Why are there so many OLD people here???" (bear in mind most of us were in our 30s).
