My project advisor (actually also my academic advisor) finally emailed me back Tuesday morning from India. He said very little in his email and included no apology for the f.u.b.a.r. he created, but did indicate that he had contacted the department chair and straightened everything out. I spoke with the department chair later that morning and was told that she was at that moment filling out the change of grade form for me and the other students affected by this. I got my "A" by the way. She was going to personally walk the forms down to the Registrar's office when she was done. I didn't get the email she promised me when she finished the task, but I have checked online since and the grade has been changed. This afternoon, while on my way to work, I called my evaluator in the Registrar's office who confirmed the change of grade and said my degree should be posted sometime tomorrow (Thursday) morning. I'll be able to check that online too. Ultimately, I should receive another letter from the Registrar's office - the one I should have received to begin with - confirming that my degree has been posted and offering me congratulations, yada, yada. I'm glad I wasn't out of town when that original letter came in and that the department chair at least was doing her job correctly. Hopefully no one else will have to go through this kind of "b.s." over their B.S. in the future. Sheesh!
