the only time i ws ever grounded i was grounded for READING and my punishment was that i had to go outside and play

i started reading Dickens in the 4th grade, yet i could barely read just a regular children's book until second grade

i used to get up at 5 in the morning before elementry school so i could make everyone in the house pancakes.

i would eat the icing center of cookies and leave the actual cookie part.

i would read in bed at night until my mom told me it was time to turn out my lights and then i would turn htem out and sit in the bathroom for another hour or two so that i could finish the book

i've slept on my playschool desk (i'm still not sure how that happened) with my head in a shoebox, with my head inside a car seat for infants, and over the heating vents of my house (very dangerous)

i had 2 security blankets, one which i hated and one which was completely tied up in knots and i loved. that one got thrown away and i cried for a week, then the second one and i became inseperateable and i still have it

1) I dressed my poor cat Smoky up in baby and doll clothes, then put him in my dolly pram and walked him around the neighborhood.

2) The pastor's daughter and I put on scary makeup and used sheets and towels to play "cave woman" in the back yard

3) I truly thought I was Wonder Woman/Bat Girl/Cat Woman/Super Girl and would take my clothes off and run around fighting crime in my Under Roos, and not always in the privacy of our own home.

4) My next door neighboor Eloise had a copy of the soundtrack to "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and we would dress up and dance to it...not realizing that we could never be "sweet transvestites from transexual Transylvania".

5) My step sister and step brother (before our parents divorced and then married, how odd is that???) and I liked to play archaeologist in the backyard, and would "plant" chicken bones from dinner and other items to "discover".

I know I blocked out a lot of things from my hippy co-op preschool about dressing up in our native costumes to sing and dance to "It's a Small World" for a pageant...but there are horrific pictures to haunt me.

Wow...some of you were REALLY STRANGE kids....just thought I'd say that...

and now I'm joining the ranks:

-My brother and I used to have this fascination with playing "Bank." Not house, not school, BANK. (With Manopoly Money and coins we would get out of the couch cushions...)

-When I would go to my friends house we would spend 4 hours setting up her room with all her fisher price kitchen/house stuff and then just not play with it. We would set it up, admire it, and take it down...

-Once, my older cousin had come over to play and when it was time for her to leave I was mad because I didn't want her to go...so I had this brilliant idea that if I hid her shoe she couldn't leave...I put in my box of Barbies in my closet...but Alas! My uncle just carried her out the door and I cried.

-I used to eat the dirt out of the potted plants in my grandmother's house...and- I used to use the clay-like insulation apoxy she lined the windows with to make animals...

-My grandfather used to have this HUGE Labor Day party. It was this end-of-summer clam-boil/cook out and my 35 cousins and I looked forward to it all year. We had this game we called "Girl-Nuts-Boy-Nuts" (I have NO IDEA where THAT came from...) but we would arrive, say hi to the relatives, and immediately BOLT to the woods behind the house. There was this clearing back there, and on one side the girls had a fort and on the other side the boys had a fort. We would spend HOURS rebuilding and fixing up the fort (w/ ferns, sticks, logs, leaves, anything we could find in the woods) and then one of the older kids would whistle or something and all hell would break loose. The little ones would run to the center and beat each other up, the older ones would throw "bombs" and try to wreck the other teams' fort. This game had absolutely no point, and no one ever won. We would just attack until the forts were ruined and that was it...but it was this HUGE ordeal...

One of my friends was just telling me that he used to have phone sex in 4th grade....whoa...

I think all Ken and Barbie dolls belong to a nudist colony, lol.

That is the best!! lol

I was a very strange child and I'm an ever stranger adult, lol.

I used to tape record everything in my household. My favorite was went I caught my parents swearing. I think I still have a couple of old tapes laying around. My favorite line ever is "get the goddamn plate!" I used to piss them off by playing it over and over again.

I think all children are strange but here we go:

1) My best friend when I was in kindergarten was male and his mother was our babysitter. We both loved the nintendo game Zelda so his mother made us matching Link and Zelda costumes...we even wore them for Halloween one year, but mostly we just wore them around the house.

2) I didn't like playing with Barbies all that much unless I could be Ken...I liked playing with Micromachines and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and if one of the boys tried to make me be April, I threw a fit.

3) My mom told me this story (I was obviously too young to remember): My mother liked to say the word "sh*t" a LOT! One night she had a friend over and I guess I had only started talking a few days before...and I walked into the kitchen where they were sitting...threw down my toy and said "oh sh*t" and walked out.

4) I had one of those suspended horses in the play room and I used to sit on it and watch Rainbow Brite videos and pretend that I was riding Starlight.

- I use to eat play-doh and paste in my preschool classroom. It got so bad that my mother had to sit me down one day to explain the difference between food and toys.

- My Barbie and Ken dolls were constantly "doing it".

- I would love to play "school". I even created a list of the students in a class and drew their yearbook pictures. I would invite my friends over so they could pretend they were students in the classroom. I would have my little sister play too; I always made the poor kid the nerd of class. I feel bad now.

- I enjoyed beating up the boys I was friends with (for some reason, I was tougher than them back then).

- I was frightened of dogs. One Halloween, I went to this woman's house and her little poodle came running outside. I ran screaming down the block.

I convinced my cousin (year younger than me) to stick a fork in an electric socket. Looking back on it, it's no wonder that we both saw stars that day, but for different reasons.

Two things we have in common, ZTAngel. I not only liked beating up boys, I liked beating them in sports. Especially football.

are you my twin?

i used to make up songs about my teachers. my parents would embarass me at open house and make me sing them.

when i was bored in class, i would cut white paper and glue them together. this is when they discovered that i should be in accelerated classes.

i refused to speak pig latin or participate in 'opposite' day like everyone else.

i wore jams and rode a scooter. *whinces*

i made up stories to get people to laugh at me. i would later abandon this tactic once i realized middle school was a year away.

i would beat every kid in 'math around the world' but make 70s on my math test. go figure.

i never learned how to swim. i can only doggy paddle. i despised community pools.

at my birthday party, i was in my neighbor's yard reading a book in a garden.

i didn't like NKOTB. i loved them. and i didn't hear a song bt them until their second album. *lollipop? popsicle? who sings that?*

i would build tents in the backyard. and put a no girls allowed sign out front. *hey, wait. . .*

i sleep with a pillow between my legs. my mom said that it's because she did that her entire pregnancy. she said that some people still sleep in their fetal position.

i slept with light on. i made my sister sleep with me. my mom said it was all of the hell in me that was coming out in the dark to haunt me.

i sucked my thumb until i was in the 6th grade. now, i fuss at any child who even dares. *whinces and looks at the braces in her mouth*

i was just weird until middle school though.

Ha-Ha! I remember one time in kindergarten, the teacher put a huge glob of paste on a papertowel in the center of the table. All 5 of us sitting there looked at it, looked at each other, and then as soon as the teacher turned away we DEVOURED it. She came back with paper and she was like "Oops! I forgot to give table 2 some paste!" HaHaHaHa!

I would absolutely refuse to play Barbie unless we could play dress shop.....which involved all of the Barbies getting naked, then coming to see the shop owner (me), describing the event they were going to, and then I would outfit them. No wonder my friends wouldn't play with me.

I think kindergarten was my wierdest year though. I used to change my name periodically, and then when we did arts and crafts I would put my new name on my stuff...and then get embarrased when the teacher would ask who it belonged to. I thought if I just kept my mouth shut no one would know, but that never worked because
1. I can't ever keep my mouth shut
2. I was the only kid who didn't have their project returned to them
3. It did it ALL the time

I also would tie my sweater around my waist, but also around the back of my chair, until I would get knotted in and had to be cut out.

I liked to play on the monkey bars when I wore dresses and skirts (which was every day, because I refused to wear pants until junior high), and I would shamelessly show my panties to the boys. I always had to be the center of attention I guess.

I hated using paste- couldn't stand how it felt on my hands- and so I would always wipe it on the desk of the redhaired boy that sat next to me- Sam- and then he could never figure out why his t shirt would stick to the desk. I had a big crush on him.

I was IN LOVE with this boy Lyndon...I swear I've never been in love as hardcore as I was with him, from kindergarten until I moved away in sixth grade...puppy love at it's finest I guess.

I did all kinds of random crap, but I guess every kid does right?

I walked on my knees for the longest time when I was little after crawling... I just didn't see the need to actually get up on my feet and walk.. But everyone was always impressed at how fast i could make my way around the place on my knees! They still talk about it!

THAT'S IT!
I can't read this thread anymore!!! I am disturbing everyone in the library b/c I can't stop laughing at the image of a little girl chewing on her Barbie's feet!!

To answer your question-yes, that's weird.

I thought mud was chocolate pudding, and used to get really pissed when my mom wouldn't let me have some. Until I tried it....

Well let's see...first of all I lovvvvvvved to read as a child. I was certified as a gifted student by the state of Tn. cuz I was so smart...wish i was still that smart.
I used to fix these disguisting sandwhiches. They were so good at the time though...i would spread butter on bread and put it in the microwave and let it melt and eat it...gross.
If my family asked me to go get something, I would run and get it and hide it behind my back and tell then that I couldn't find it and then present it and say but i did find this. Corny but i wanted to surprise them

Ok this is going to sound so bad, but it was wayyy funny. Does anyone remember these stuffed animal puppies that were pregnant? The commercial lyric/jingle was "how many puppies are there inside....there could be 1, 2, 3 or 4"

Well, May Day strolled around and there was a boy in the neighborhood that everyone disliked and his last name was Trojan so we called him "Troll Man" We decided to make him his May Day basket.

We collected poop, and proceeded to put it on his front steps, ring the doorbell, they'd get rid of it, and we'd do it, oh 6 more times. And then as we strolled down the sidewalk we'd sing "how many poopies are there inside"

We were such terrors.

The other crazy thing my friends and I would do in the dead summer heat would be to build these HUGE forts out of cardboard in a girls garage. We would then separate all the girls based on age, and for some reason I was always with the younger ones. We would then mix all the soda in the world, and just sit there and delegate all day everyday.
