I saw part of the Discovery special about transgenders. I remembered they stated that an autopsy of dead transgender men was performed and these men had a small part of the brain (I can't remember which part) that is comparable to women. Normal men have a much larger part of the brain. So they said, the reason why they feel they are the wrong sex may be due to this smaller part of the brain.
Another sidenote: do you know about about people being born with their inward sex organs that are different from their outward organs and their parents had to decide what sex they were (i.e., a person has ovaries but from the outside, it looks like they have an undeveloped penis). That was so weird.

I watched a Discovery channel special a few months ago about transgenders. It was quite interesting. Most of the folks on the show were men to woman and the thing I found most interesting was that most of the men had been police officers, in the military, football players, etc. The commentary said something about them trying to overcompensate for their true feelings by being ultra masculine. There was one woman to man person (sorry I don't know the correct name to call them!) who went through this big deal to get her/his gender changed from F to M on his drivers license. Since he was living as a man he wanted it to 'match his daily life.
The funniest thing to me though was the 'lessons' some of the men took on how to walk, talk, hold their hands, etc. to seem more feminine.
