I like her music, I don't like her image/personality/style.

She's FAKE.
it took 4 people to write that crap-ass 'complicated' song. 'nuff said.

as for seeing her live, i've seen her on some live specials on tv, like mtv's new years eve, the billboard music awards, and the grammys and she was terrible.

She started out as one of those Tiffany, Debbie Gibson soft pop girls and now she's hard and we are to believe it? What's really irritating is she's performing on Metallica Icon. SHe definitely will not rock!

Some people aren't lucky enough to have weekends to go out to date parties, get drunk, and have a good time. My Friday is my Sunday.

Pssst.

Learn how to pronounce Bowie, honey.

And Annie Hall called. She wants her tie back.

I like I'm With You and Complicated and I don't even like the whole pop/rock type of music.

I hate to say it but I saw her play before she broke.... she must have been 15 or 16 at one of the commmunity events in Kingston (I do a lot of promo work around Ontario).... any-hoo

Yes she did play a guitar... not good but okay.
Yes she did dress like that back then.....
Her music was.... intresting.... sort-of pop-punk (except for the Christian rock song she sang) but catchy (nice back ground music for the bbq).

As for her look and attitude... well I could rattle off at least 2 dozen sorority girls in Toronto that have the same attitude if not similar look, and have had for around 4 years now (god my sister has dressed like that for a good 5 years now).

Okay rant done.... now a question: What do you mean by pronouncing Bowie? like David Bowie (singer) or Bowie Knife?

Is the way Avril dresses and Ontario thing? My sisters who go to UBC from Ont. seem very Avril-ish or am I just stereotyping grils from Ontario? (sorry if I am - but I always take the BC sterotype punches, so I'm just throwing a few back )

It could be worse. You could be me - stuck in class all day tomorrow, working on Sunday.

*passes around some cheese to go with my whine*

Shine, you're right, she is fake. My only consolation is that no one will remember her in 5 years.

One really sad thing is that this generation of faux punks will really think that this is what punk rock is. If you're in that category, go straight to Arya's post. (Dude, you rock!)

Yeah.... i guess it is an Ontario thing.... most call it skater-girl/punk for lack of a better term. Personality wise they a very self-depriciating (ie. I suck at _____ ) no matter how good they are at anything.... oh yeah they aren't afraid to speak their mind; which has made some intresting and amusing (for me) mixers and parties in Greek land here at UofT.

Another funny thing is that most of these girls either like or hate Avril (not love)... because they realize she is somewhat packaged, but they do listen to her music (some secretly like my sister).
