Too Scary!

It's very unsettling, considering that is the school district next to the one I went to. I would never in a million years expect it to happen in York. That is precisely the reason why the media jumps on it.

Jess_pom: hope you're doing ok. I'm sending lots of Phi Sig love out to you!

Thanks, PrincessPhiSig,

I've been reading the local newspaper online, and I'm sitting here in the computer lab crying, because all the memories from 8 years ago keep flooding back. Plus, there's interviews with siblings of people I went to school with. You never image it's going to happen to you, and when it does, it hits you like a ton of bricks.

Back when I was in high school 20 years ago, we had a school shooting just after the school day ended -- and back then, shootings were so rare the last time there was a gun incident (another shooting) was ten years earlier. Other than a brief blurb on the 6 and 10 o'clock news and a brief article in the paper, that was it. And when they caught the shooter, tried him and sentenced him, that was page 6 news.

Nowadays, you can't get anywhere inside a school unless you pass through a metal detector, wear ID on plain sight at all times and be under the scrutiny of school security cameras and guards. Sh*t, for a minute I was thinking I was going to break into an ICBM silo!

Jess_pom-
I'm also sorry to hear about what happened. Its so scary to hear about everything that is going on in the area-at Mechanicsburg, Palmyra, Red Lion....what are these kids thinking? My mom works at my old high school (Big Spring) and when things like this happen I get really worried. I saw an interview with a father on the news last night-he went to pick up his son and went to hug him. His son told him that he was alright and he didnt have to hug him, but the dad said "well im not-get over here" It was really touching. Im keeping everyone in my prayers.
