Sapphire Ball
Hey Ladies,
I am a co-Sapphire Ball chair for the Zeta Mu Chapter. I am so excited to have this position. Everything is going great so far, I have the invitations getting printed, the place confirmed, and the theme picked up: Winter, but I am not sure what to get for party favors. Does anyone know of good sites to check out? I am thinking maybe snow globes that you can insert a picture in would be cute, but I don't want to spend more than 4 or 5 dollars on each item, I really don't even wanna spend that much, prolly like 2 or 3 but I dunno what I can get that'd be nice and cute. Help! :-) Have a great holiday and a Happy New Year!

We did fluted champagne glasses with our crest engraved onto them but those were pretty costly. I am not really good with party favors when it comes to things like the Sapphire Ball. I'm drawing a blank but if I do hear of some ideas then I'll be sure to let you know. =)

I found really cute snow globe keychains that we can put pictures in from Stumps. I have another question to ask, I was thinking about the format of sapphire ball. It starts at 7 and ends at 11, this is what I was thinking: What do you think? Music will be playing at all times.
645-730 low key music, mingle
730-815 dinner (buffet style) nice slow music
815-845/900 Dance and games
845/900-945/1000 Awards and Rose
945/1000-1100 Dancing and more Games
Should I alter anything, and do you suggest how I should present awards?

I think the low key music is a good idea. It gives people a chance to see each other with out having to shout over the music. Plus, you don't want people going crazy on the dance floor and messing up their hair before the festivities actually start.
For favors... I would go for something nice or nothing at all. Who needs to waste money on junk? The snowglobe keychains sound cute.
Awards- the awards chair always came up with the catagories and photocopied "ballots" and passed them out at the ball. We had catagories such as "1st sister to be out of her dress" and "1st to the bar". I know some chapters present other awards there, too. You could vote on those before you go.
Good luck, have fun and don't stress!

What about combining both your ideas? It's true, (thanks Nicole for putting in input, since you're gonna be at Sapphire Ball...hehe) to set the festivities with music, but maybe we can start with like Pink's "Get the Party Started" and such songs as "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" (you know something that makes the people feel comfortable), but nothing too crazy like "Tootsie Roll" and then when dinner comes out, start having some lower key songs? How does the time sound? Did I allot something too much time?
Yea, I LOVE the snow globe key chains and I am going to dress them up in cute bags.
It's a Spring theme and we are unsure of the center pieces on the table. But, I do know that with Nicole's help (you can be the Sapphire Ball historian... ), we're making a scrapbook for this event and letting people sign the book!
We don't have an awards chair (we're a small chapter), so I'd be in charge of the awards with the other co-chair. We are doing the awards from the constitution, but my question is how do i make it exciting? What can I say? And, what other stuff shall I mention when I am infront of the audience?
Thanks for the advice, it's mucho appreciated. I want this Sapphire Ball to go real well!

The EP chapters Sapphire Ball is quickly approaching!! it is going to be the wekeend of March 19-21st. We are going ot a hotel outside of Philadelphia for the weekend. Saturday night we will have a dinner, dance, and drinks. It's going to be a great time. Also, the Social Committee comes up with Awards for each sister. It's a lot of fun!! Last year we had our ball in the Poconos which was also a lot of fun. We like making it a wekeend away from school because it gives us all a break from our hectic schedules and is sort of like a mini vacation.

We had our formal this past friday. It was oscar themed - every woman one a personal award and received an "Oscar" [gold painted barbies]. They were cute.
I put up a couple pics in my LJ
the link is here...

Resurrecting an old thread...
Tomorrow's Iota Gamma's Sapphire Ball, with the theme being Masquerade.
My bf and I just found a dress for me today, and now my mom and I are working on getting our masks made.
I'm super excited - I love Sapphire Ball!
Has anyone else had theirs, or are getting ready for theirs??

I have no idea how I'm doing my hair... And it's the morning of! LOL
My hair dresser passed away last month, and I just feel weird going somewhere else, considering she was the only one that did my hair - prom, formals, etc.
So I think I'm going to go simple and try to work some magic with curls! Let's hope it works, and I don't turn out looking like a poodle! haha!
