I heard this song today shopping in Macy's. I started to think about this thread.

Everywhere I went this weekend, I heard this song -- we heard it on MTV, MTV2, MTVHits (I saw this video more times this weekend than all the other videos combined), practically every single radio station! I think I heard it four times in a half hour. I like the song, but it's complete overkill. I'll be sick of it within weeks. Our local radio station is still overplaying Nelly's "Hot in Herre," and I'm sure that fairly soon they'll do the same to "In Da Club" and it will be ruined for me.
It's so catchy.

ahh, thanks for the disclaimer, i'm sure you realized i'd jump on your shit without it . . .
Eminem is brilliant, but not really for his lyrics - he's good with the words, but it's the image that is amazing. He's crafted himself as a sort of present-day Madonna, making a 'renegade' image that mainstream America loves, then reinventing himself as a serious artist. He's taking it all the way to the bank - it's brilliant.
The 50 cent song is pretty solid i guess, it's better than most 'radio rap' (at least it doesn't include Ja Rule). It's a good beat, if not groundbreaking, and his flow is cool, pretty chill.
Go download "Cheeba Cheeba" by zion i (2 guys out of oakland) - a similar 'club banger' but a little more underground feel, that's what I've been into lately.

Complete overkill INDEED! I like the song also, but they play that song more than they played Arrested Development's "Mr. Wendell"
PS, I am UTTERLY, THOROUGHLY, COMPLETELY sick of Ja-Rule and Ashanti...just wanted to add that point as well!

And that is why folks love 50! They are sick of the whole "ballad rap" thing going on right now in hip hop. You got a guy out of the streets who has dissed Ja Rule and came out with a pop song that doesn't have a singer on it. woohoo! lol!
I have been following Curtis(50) for a minute and he is very talented. But I am worried about him for two reasons:
1. He's the number one rapper in the world right now, with such a big debut, can he back up the hype? Think of the rappers that have tried but can't. But hopefully one of them that did(Eminem) is in his corner.
2. He is following a very "Tupac" like path with his career. The dissing, the life, getting shot, having beef. I really truly hope he is still with us in 5 years

I completely agree with everything said! I used to LOVE his song "How to Rob" I just think he 'keeps it real'. I am mad that they are almost overexposing him though.

I still think it's pretty ironic that it was 33girl who started a thread about this song. 50 cent doesn't seem like an artist she'd listen to, but for some reason I can just picture her shaking her ass to the song whenever she hears it.
