Who cares about being first when you're the BEST! Selene is a nice parade but we are skipping it. We have friends in Le Krewe d'Etat and I can't wait to see all their floats. Our friends are riding one that pays homage to the "Canal Street Business Women's Association." I am sure that AKA2D'91 knows the reference.

dekeguy - I wish you the best and I will raise my glass in your honor during the meeting of the courts.

Well, I need to run. We have to go to another ball tonight. That'll be 4 down and 1 more to go!

I'll be catching Krewe of Selene in Slidell this Friday night - boy's mom is in it. Other than that, I don't know. I'm so "been there, done that" with all the mass crowds and superkrewes. Its fun, but its gotten so big that I'll leave it to the tourists.

wish I was there!

Just got a call from friends at St. Louis Mardi Gras and it has been snowing there...the parade sat. is going to be VERY cold, but they'll all still have fun. I swear almost all of our campus took off and went there! People started leaving Wednesday, and today my 2 classes were almost empty! The town is so quiet!

Would be at St. Louis Mardi Gras if it wasn't for a mandatory all day SK Risk Managment workshop 9-5 Sat. But hey I'll be there next year for it!

My son left this morning with 3 friends...I told him to wear his crummy shoes in case he steps in vomit OR some drunk decides to urinate on them.
Daughter's friends from Virginia came in last night. They will stay in N.O. on the main drag as a couple of DGs have accommodations for them.

All our balls wrap up tonight. They will start shutting off the streets about 9:00, Tues., a.m. Our parade has really grown as the less adventuresome Tx visitors hit us well before New Orleans.

LOL, the irony.

Between this severe cold I have and the weather, no mardi gras for me this year.

I wonder how many people will show up, despite the weather.

I'm stuck up here at school, so the best I get is Moscow Mardi Gras. It shuts down the town for the weekend, and it's a blast! Nothing compared to the real thing, but out here in the middle of the wheatfields, you take what you can get! I went last year and I had so much fun, and there is a much bigger group of us going tonight.

Unfortunately I'll be in school on Madri Gras. However I did get to go to New Orleans for New Years! There were 1 millon people on the streets. I had loads of fun, but after it being so crowed I wouldn't want to go for Mardi Gras, which is 10 times bigger! If someone is thinking of going to New Orleans, my advice is go on a day other than Mardi Gras, so you can fully enjoy the city and besides everyday is Mardi Gras in the Big Easy!

Ballerina and some sisters were in NO last week for Mardi Gras and the Pi Kap formal. The fraternity chartered a bus, thank the Lord, for the long ride! BlazerCheer says that now Ballerina's half of the room is not only red/yellow/owls but also Mardi Gras beads strung from everything!

I gotta see that. On second thought...thinking about beads everywhere...never mind.

Angry

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night about 1:00 a.m. I get a wake up call. It is my LOVELY daughter... or so I THINK because the FRICKIN SPRINT connection is so bad the phone keeps cutting out. She was the victim of a pick pocket. They DIDN'T get her ATM card or anything, just her keys (which they discarded) and her little card/ID holder that the keys were on. They got her drivers license...it has her SS# on it. Luckily she had the good sense God gave her to put her money and ATM card in her pocket BEFORE she got THREE SHEETS TO THE WIND! Between Sprint and her OBVIOUS inability to use the English language, it took an hour of calls back and forth to get the entire story. This is a mother's NIGHTMARE! For that one hour I had NO IDEA if she was OK-where she was-what HAPPENED! My last question was WHO'S DRIVING??? "Her friend", who of course HADN'T HAD A SINGLE DROP OF LIBATIONS PASS HIS?/ HER? LIPS!!! SOOOOOOO, you can imagine all the thoughts running through my head and the realization there was NOTHING I could do to help. It really bothers me that someone would be interested enough to keep her license. It has our home address so that's a relief. I can only hope it's some PUNK who will use it as a fake ID. .................HAPPY FRICKIN MARDI GRAS!
