Well, it's over between us...
...but at least I know why she insists on staying friends.
Despite the fact that we are otherwise two folx that would make an ideal couple, she doesn't want to marry me b/c she is an Eritrean and wants to marry an Eritrean man, and mind you, it is not necessarily for love, but rather, for "convenience". She says she doesn't want to have to explain to others and to her future kids the cultural differences b/t her and me, despite the fact that she lived in America much longer than she lived in Eritrea.
In short, the reasons she gave for not wanting to marry me are b/c she was afraid to face what would be otherwise harmless "heat". So I gave her the walking papers, and told her to "do her thing".
Hey, friends don't let friends stay in substandard relationships.
