Question

My Calling, well, the phone rang and I answered! Hell, there was no answer!

I had a library card before I was in the Kindergarden class by a year!

Graduated from High School, haha so there!

Wanted to be a History teacher. Flunking History Classes, Teachers sucked! Got booted, had an Aunt who said go into Business, Graduate, I will get you a job with the FDIC!

Went to another College, took Business. Graduated! Yea! Did Business, was a Cop, loved that but got pissed and told them to kiss off!

Back to Business! Been in Business with 2 and total of 24 years.

What do I think my true calling is? Working with My International Fraternity and working with young people such as your selves.

It is the many Brothers and the People on GC that keep me young and working and understanding many things!

Check out the Alumi Thread on GC and see how many are looking to Alum. Association! This is what it is all about!

Hey, KappaStarGirl, I'm a librarian too! I was studying for a degree in elementary ed., wanting to teach Kindergarten or first grade when I took a course in children's literature. When I went to elementary school, we did not have a school library. So when I found out that elementary schools had libraries, I was like "YOU MEAN THEY PAY PEOPLE MONEY TO DO THIS?? HOW COOL!!!" So I finished by degree and went right into grad school for my MLS. I have been an elementary school librarian for 28 years (now be nice to me, I am old) and I think it is the BEST job in the school. Every day is different. I finally went on and got my Ph.D. in library science and have taught at the college level some, but I like working with the kids better.

This is my calling also. I was reading before I was walking. I have a degree in English. I've worked in 2 bookstores and 2 libraries. I've done a little bit of voluteer work in a library. Almost every weekend I spend my time(and money) at Half Price Books. I love to read so much. So when I get my money straight, I'm going to apply to grad school and get my Master's in Library Science

It's the funniest thing...Ever since I can remember, I have loved to read. I literally devoured books when I was a child, and I do it more now than ever (when I have time..) At one point, I was so sure that I wanted to be a Librarian, I mean, you get to read, and be around books all the time, what a great job! Then I realized that I would hate it, even with all the books. Although you do get to meet a lot of people on a daily basis, it was never the right kind of people contact that I thrive on. In a work setting, I hate silence, I love the crowds of busy people, and the buzz of the corporate world. Right now I am trying to get into the Defense Industry because I think that it is the most interesting thing. Although it has been a little hard as a civilian, let me tell you. I can't imagine working on anything but a Global level, I have always liked to know *everything* that was going on in a business, not just my part, and a global focus fufills that for me.

I wish I got a "calling"... I'm just going with what I think might work.

I still don't know what my calling is. So right now I'm in a job I don't particularly care for, but hey it's been less than one year since I graduated and I know people change jobs several times before they find the "right" one, so I'm not too worried. But I don't think I can get into grad school (because I want to go to UMD for animal science but doubt I can get in) and I was thinking about going to school to be a vet tech, but the classes are all during the day when I'm working so that won't work either. Hopefully I'll figure it out eventually...
