White people getting tans is along the same line of some black females getting "weave", simmering pressed locks, relaxers, using Pink moisterizer, etc. It doesn't mean much.

Me, too! What I don't understand is why people have to point out that I am really pale. As if I didn't know that.
Right now my very white mom is in Hawaii wearing SPF 45.

This is your best bet . . also start removing the towel for like 5 minutes . . and then slowly increasing the time without the towel.
I am tan most of the year. I tan easily and dark. Come to think of it I haven't tanned in a while not good . . . its great in winter because it warms you up, subjectively at least .
Or screw it, use a stand up. We have the 8 minute ones that are really popular now. Tan all over no burn.

Why are white people trying to get dark?
What's wrong with your original color?
Maybe I just don't get the whole tanning thing. Toasting the skin cells with 'harmless' ultraviolet rays on purpose. One of my friends, who is biracial, tans so that people can tell that she's biracial. I just shake my head.
Then again, I guess being black, you don't have to worry about stuff like that. I'm already tan. Lucky me, huh?

i think that same stuff too. i didn't even think it was real until i moved out from the northeast. and for some reason, i always thought guys who did it were you know....happy. but then again, i've never had that kinda problem, so i guess it's not for me to say.

To me it seems like people who tan for a really long time start to have skin with a "leatheresque" quality. Kinda creepy.

And ya know, I could never explain it to her. I have since eliminated my exposure to the sun. Skin cancer is prevalant in mi familia. Plus, I dotn wanna look like a wallet when I am 50. Coem on, skin isnt supposed to make a sound when you walk. My aunt was always in the sun and she looked like she used to bob for apples in a deep fat fryer. I never could tell if she was original recipie, or extra crispy. My friend Les has fake baked so much she now looks like a photo negative. She has that healthy orange glow.

ROFL@ the wallet comment! I'm about as pasty as they come - I burn if I *think* about sun. I'm the kind of person that can get burned from riding in the car. I'll fake bake in the summer, just to avoid that super-pasty look.
I already look much younger than I am - and I plan to keep on looking that way. I wear SPF 15 daily, and if I"m going out into the sun for any prolonged period of time, I wear SPF 45.
Hooray for pasty people!

I'm not a chick, but a women by the way....
To answer the original question, though I don't know why I even bother....
When you're tanning take the towel they provide for you and lay it on top of your bottem (or under) when tanning. Not the whole time, but for a few minutes while the rest of your body is tanning.

If you don't know why you're answering, then get the hell out of my thread. You can come back once you realize why you want to post in here.

Don't be such a D*CK! Why do you assume I was even referring to YOU when I made that comment? What? Are you paranoid?
I meant that since no one even bothered to answer your question and turned the whole thread in a different direction, than why should I answer it? I was being sarcastic. Maybe you should look that up.
Oh, I can't wait for the response! I bet it will say something about me being Korean or a "chick".....
This I can't wait to read!!<- an example of sarcasim

Everytime I think of tanning salons I think of that really nasty and wrinkly old lady from "There's Something about Mary". M-something...Minerva?
My genes guarantee me a perfect tan 24/7/365 and I'm thankful for it. I really don't understand how tanning salons stay in business in Hawaii.
