As someone who suffers from depression and anxiety. Therapy is a good thing. Like everyone said, if you think you need help, you probably do.
If you're not at school or don't know where you should start looking talk to your family doctor. They will be able to refer you to a trained professional.
Please do not see a doctor simply asking for medication. Medication will not fix the problem...it helps, but it is not always the best solution. Any qualified or reasonable doctor will tell you while on medication for depression or anxiety you should also be involved in some sort of talk therapy. If they don't suggest that to you, then find some one else quick because they are just pill pushers.

With a little help things will get better...it does take time and there is no miracle sure...even medication takes 6-8 weeks to kick in.

Take care,

Emily

Hi Dani,

I'm guessing you can still go to the counseling center, with what you are doing right now. I went there when I was having issues with my major but I know a lot of people who went there that were having real problems as well and I've never heard any negative complaints. Sometimes it's nice to talk it out with someone who doesn't see you every day.

Hope this helps

Perhaps a thorough check-up from your doctor is in order. There may be some physical problem that he/she could help you with. If you still feel the need to talk to someone, I would try it. I would, however, stress that you should feel comfortable with the counselor or psychologist. I went to one for several months, and she was so judgmental and not accepting of my situation. I would go home feeling worse than when I went in. Finally, I said "Why am I paying someone to feel this bad about myself?" and I quit. A different person would have probably made a difference in results.
Even if you just talk it over with your friends, getting it out is healthier than keeping it in. PM me if you need to chat.

A therapist is not supposed to be judgemental or critical. Sorry that you had a negative experience with that therapist.

I want to thank everyone for their help and suggestions, and sharing of experiences.
I'm going to give it until Monday to see how i feel (i had a good day yesterday, and an okay one today) and then decide whether or not to make an appointment.
Thank you everyone!
