My 21st
Not too long ago, believe it or not.
I did the usual bar hopping: There was the bar right outside of Danielsen Hall (Collin? A little help here?)
Then the Hub Cap (bar in Top of the Hub at Prudential Tower) then the Purple Shamrock, and I think there was one or two more....hard to remember. I wonder why?
Then a week later, T's Pub. "Go ahead, Guido. Card me. This one ain't going in the window!"
I don't know if T's still does this or not (A little more help here?) but back in my day they displayed the confiscated fake IDs in the window with the warning, "Is your fake ID as good or better than these? Come in and find out!"
Conversely, toward the middle of campus was The Dugout (or the "Dougeaux" when your parents were in town). If you *looked* at least 12 and kept your mouth shut you could get in.
My 21st was 13 years ago. And I remember it like it was only 10.
Congrats to all of you on your 21st! Enjoy the feeling of being able to go wherever you damn well please w/out the bouncer saying boo about it.

The night of my 21st was a Thursday and I had a huge exam in my evening class and it was storming really badly....a huge group of us went out to dinner though and the waiter made me stand on a chair while everyone sang Happy Birthday. I remember thinking "I'm dizzy...I hope I don't fall" but luckily I didn't! Because of all the storms no one really felt like hitting the Tennessee Strip for "waltzing" (Tennessee Street is where many of the bars are in Tallahassee and it is tradition to hit all the bars there on your 21st) It was the weekend of the FSU/UF game in Tallahassee though so we basically partied all weekend anyway

Yesterday was a co-workers 21st!
Today is my best friend Rob's 21st!
Tomorrow is my roomies 21st!
And the day after is MY 21st!
The plan so far is dinner with my big sis, and come back to the house, go to the 18 and up club at midnight, so EVERYONE can celebrate! Thursday (my actual birthday) I have class, then happy hour and then a few local bars. Friday night Rob and I are going to our fav bar and actually drink for the first time together and have it be legal.
I know my weekend sounds a little excessive, but it's me, I liek to go out and dance rather than drink, but this weekend I will be drinking, but doing it responsible.
I also got my first birthday card today, it's from Brad McCue's parents. Brad died the night of his 21st nirthday from drinking 21 shots. Mrs. McCue has come and talked to our sorority before as well as the whole MSU greek community, so thats a little insight for anyone who thinks that 21 shots on your 21st birthday is a great idea. The McCue family sends all students a card on their 21st birthday, they also have a website telling about there program and what happened to their son, it also has a lot of tips for safe and responsible drinking www.BRAD21.org

My 21st was kinda mellow. It's in the middle of august when everyone is gone for vacation.
My actual birthday: my friends from the bay took me out to dinner. The restaurant had a bar so we ordered a few drinks there and went home.
The next day I went up to sacramento. I went on a date during the middle of the week which was a nice way to celebrate.
That Friday was my friend's 21st birthday so she was having a house party. I got taken out to dinner by one of my good friends and a few people met us later. And then the guy I had a date with earlier in the week came with me to the house party.
The only thing was that I had a meeting for orientation leaders at 7 am the next morning so we couldn't party all night.
But yes... even tho no one was really in town, I still had a 21st birthday that lasted all week.

I didn't mean to give anyone the wrong impression about trying to get dwon 21 shots on your 21st. It's a long running tradition with many kids around here and most other colleges...I've rarely heard of people accomplishing this. Usually we order our sisters/friends shooters or beers, which are a little less potent that straight shots. No one is ever forced to drink that much....but the tradition is just to make it to 21 drinks on your 21st, not always shots....I don't want everyone to think we go around trying to hurt everyone here. I'm sooo sorry to hear about Brad's death, Allie.
The anticipation with my 21st is killing me even more now. Last night I found out that my parent's gift to me is a new car!!!!!!! Only 44 days left to go (yes, I'm a dork..i'm actually counting)

I had three different three wisemans, a bunch of other nasty stuff. People said I took it like a champ. Then i got a sloe uncomfortable screw against the wall. Had a bunch of beer. I think I kissed some girl at the bar. I know her name but am with holding. I should give her a call. Anyway, I got home, puked, posted some offensive and generally non coherent (a step from inchoherent) things on www.greekchat.com and then passed out. And woke up just fine and dandy for my 10 AM class. I'm the most hard core person alive.

What the Hell is a 21 st Birthday?
Dont know if I could make it through that one and many more which followed!!!!
When I went to NWMSU, before I got kicked out, I used to sit at the Palms, ( My Library ) and study by the ski bowling machine.
As underagers College STUDENTSwould come in, they would head straight for me and tell them what they wanted to buy and take out. Buy a 6 pack get a frotsty mug. Buy a case get a pitcher. Hell never bought any beer except the first on.
Birthday night some of the guys came and grabbed me and took me to the Palms, got a free beer for your birthday!
Got to the bar and everyone said hey is Toms Birthday, give him his free beer!!!!!!
Owner said SURE, by the way what year is it? Told him my 21 st. He about S&^t, had to be 21 even way back then in Mo.
AAAAAAH the good old days
Does anyone but me remeber them????

Way back when when dinosaurs roamed the earth (well... not THAT long ago, say 1986 ) I was in Germany serving in the Air Farce when I turned 21. No big deal since we were already drinking tax free Class VI booze and German beer in massive quantities, but my upper arms were sore after getting tagged 21 times by my buddies in the dorm. And then I felt very little pain, 'cause they proceeded to get me wasted.
