If you think about it, there really should not be that many black bones. Why? A black bone is earned for academic achievement during the previous semester, which (I think) means Dean's List performance.
We've only been giving out black bones for two years, so for UGA right now the maximum number possible of black bones is 6 (two for each semester and summer term). Many students choose to take the summer off from school, so realistically 4 black bones is great, too.
The white bones overshadow the black bones in sheer numbers, because they are rewards for big plays on the field. I think the black bones are a great reminder to all of us that they are, after all, student-athletes. Yes, they may make great plays on Saturday, but they still have to go to class on Monday.
Sorry this is so long, but you get me started on UGA football and this is what you get!
