Delt Alum-I hear you! Our business is really sensitive to the economy and it slowed down the last 6 mo. It was WILD the last month though, and I DREAD Monday knowing how much paperwork I have on my desk!
2003 means...eventually-
Less laundry, cooking, late night phone calls
More private time, books to read, places to go (Since I won't have to worry about an assault on the house for a "party".)
NO MORE Homecoming antics (TP the house)
I will look on the bright side!

As I posted in the AGD board, a co-worker's hubby died Sat. He was supposed to retire Dec. 31st. The entire family seemed to have one crisis after another for the past 2-3 years and Scottie kept saying that she was ready for this year to end. (There is an old country and western song about "waiting until December to end" or something like that"). Unfortunately, it didn't end the way she wanted.
She has 2 "kids" who are in their early 20's but very heavily "momma's kids" so this will be a sad, but very sudden kick in the whatever to grow up. She has barely any sick/annual leave left so perhaps we can donate some.
I know that my job isn't perfect, but I am thankful to have one. My hubby's computer company is kinda shaky, but should survive. I love my "new car" (will be 1 year old in January but 36k already, lol.)
I am thankful for renewing my commitment to Alpha Gamma Delta...I wish every AGD would as each Greek member should do!
So, when I look horrible 1995 when my parents died within a month of each other, since then, I can only think that things will get better...so far they have....
Best of luck and love to everyone! We all need and deserve it!
Updated: Good/Bad news..turns out that it wasn't 1 co-worker's hubby, it was another's husband. He had been depressed due to health problems and committed suicide after being arrested for DUI.

Thanks Lynn,
The same to you. The grandparents who raised me and my mom have all passed on. I'm glad my dad is still hanging in -- although aging more rapidly.
It can be tough being a grown-up, can't it?
Your attitude about things getting better is wonderful.
JAM, our youngest, the college freshman, just got his first semester grades -- 4.0.
That's a good way to end this year -- or start the next one, however you want to look at it.
Happy New Year to you all.

JAM, our youngest, the college freshman, just got his first semester grades -- 4.0. WOW!!! WELL DONE!
I won't even COMMENT on GRADES!!!
Hubby had a LIST of people we know who have JUST been diagnosed with horrible things. My sister called with another list...
Though I am happy with where I am in life (for the most part) it really does stink when you start recognizing certain "passages".
AGDLynn , I THINK the song is "If We Make it Through December". For us, it's a FULL month of "anniversaries"...
At this stage, many, MANY are sad.

WEll I hope that all of you have a wonderful 2003. It is so sad to hear that so many of you have lost your parents. That is one of my greatest fears.
2002 wasn't too bad of a year, much better than 2001. I just think that I the older I get the wiser I am, and then I thank God each year that I am never going to be in junior high again. At least I get a littler cooler as the years go on(ha ha), I think that is because I stop trying to be someone else. So I can't wait for 2003!

Yeah, as you all know, my 2002 rather sucked! I left my family, friends and school to live with a man that lied to me. Got my heart broken over and over by him. Got unengaged. Had to deal with more hurt. Had to deal with him trying to ruin my credit. Jeez....does the year get any better?
Actually, on the 28th (the day I was SUPPOSED to get married) I threw a huge kegger at my parent's house and had so many old friends from high school show up. It was a relief to see people and be able to move on!
2003 will hopefully bring:
More happiness
Successful career
Graduation from College
A new car
Hopefully a man

2002 was a mixed year for me. It was scary and fun and sad to graduate from college.
The summer was very hard, 2 of my former teachers lost children, and I was very sad from that. Then, there was the serial killer madness that was innundating the news. Plus, I was very scared/worried about starting law school. I was worried for my boy who had no job. I was scared that we'd grow apart, after 5 years in the relationship.
This first semester of law school was rocky. I'm happy to be living at home full-time now. Boyfriend got a good, well-paying job that's close to my house, which is nice. We see each other a lot and are planning on getting engaged soon. That put a happy spin on the fall.
I was very happy to finish my finals and have a break. The day after they ended, my mom's best friend died unexpectedly. She had been battling cancer, but was basically mismanaged by her doctors and she got some bad somethingoranother that killed her nearly overnight. On Monday of the week she died, she was doing yard work, feeling fine. On Friday night she went into the hospital and she died on Saturday. She still has 2 sons at home, ages 13 and 17. A very sad end to the year.
Here's to a happy 2003 for everyone!
