Thumbs up Didn't know where to post this but it had to be said....

Brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha in my short life as an AKAwoman (I turn 1on June 5th) I’ve experienced a lot of love from the men of Black and Old Gold but yesterday while attending Alpha Day at the Louisiana Legislature it was amazing. I witnessed young Alpha men (Undergrad) cater to the needs of my seasoned Sorors (helping them up stairs, bringing them water, etc.). Your 32nd General President (Bro. Matthews) and Louisiana District Director (Bro. Wayne Woods) were outstanding speakers. Sorors and Bros. that serve in Louisiana’s Legislature did an outstanding job in helping the Pham understand the everyday activities that take place at the capital. Day ended with a remarkable hospitality reception given by the brothers from the Beta Iota Lambda chapter. Trust me a great time was had by all.

First, congratulations on your anniversary, CountryGurl,

Glad you enjoyed the Louisiana Alpha Day experience. It's good to see Phirst Pham showing the love. We also hold "Alphas at the Statehouse" days here in Ohio. Additionally, bruhs and AKAs support each other in a number of community collaborations (and parties) here in NE Ohio.

Keep up the good work,
PhiiiiiiiiSkee.

PHI-SKEE !!! to my SORORS....you ladies have been there for me for the past 11 years. I even remember getting a job in a small town where there were no frat and the AKAs (GRAD & UNDERGRAD) took me in and made me feel at home. Professionally, AKAs have networked with me just as much as frat and have really boosted my career....Much love and respect!

"Lyle Love Since 1908! SORORS and FRAT even without a contract."

From Skip Mason, curator of the Centennial Exhibit:

We might not ever know if Beta Chapter charter member George Lyle
"whispered sweet musings" and inspired his high school sweetheart, Howard classmate and future wife Ethel Hedgeman (spelled Hedgemon in her 1909 Class photo) to forge ahead with her plans to organize Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in 1908.

However, there is a letter written in 1913, that may add some light to the relationship between AKA and APHIA. Of course we have the original letter!

But the doors to the "House of Alpha" Centennial Exhibit will not open for another 25 days so you will just have to wait until then to read it. In the spirit of George and Ethel Lyle who will be there: "Skee-Phi, Ice and Ivy and First Pham love (yeah, I am hip to the college slang)! It is all good in our Centennial year! See you in 25 days...Spread the word.

Skip Mason
