*cough* great talent if you like Yanni or Vanessa Mae.

In today's paper, there was an editorial/commentary by one of the regulars. He had posted one article last week on how relevant Ms. America is these days...how many MAs can you name other than Vanessa Willams, lol!

Anyway, he had a followup today. Writing about a neighbor who always MAKES her family watch the pageant even if there is a football game. Well, writer says his granddaughter was over there and had a comment about the talent show, in particular one contestant, "Well, I guess she's showing them she doesn't have any talent!"

That was terribly rude, just because you don't appreciate something doesn't mean that she isn't talented.....

As I see it, its much like that commercial for art education where the little boy is walking with his mom and tells the musician to get a job. Ignorance for talent does not equal a lack of talent.

From the better late than never school of GreekChat!

I just got The Adelphean today, and saw that Miss Alabama, Scarlotte Deupree (first runner up) is a member of Eta Chapter of Alpha Delta Pi. "She was chosen as the pageant participants' choice for the next Miss America."

Interestingly, I was "watching" the pagent on another message board, and all the guys there were saying that Miss Alabama was robbed! Having watched pagents since I was a kid (and can usually pick at least 8 out of the 10 semi-fianlists), I had agreed!

Lindsey Smith-Sands (Alpha Phi and Miss Washington County) is competing in the Miss Oregon Pageant July 10-12. We are all cheering her on! Her picture on her site is too large to post, but you can check out her thread in the Alpha Phi Forum.
