also the Daughters of the American Revolution has an ancestry archive that rivals the mormons. Also is if you are ever in DC go to the National Archives. My mom and dad had the same last name (Jones), so before getting married they wanted to make sure they were not related.

By your screen name I'm assuming you are german. If I'm correct and based on your posts you've made in this thread, I'd say your close to an atheist, not totally one, but close enough in a sense that you really don't care about religion period.

Am I right?

If so, do you think your great-granny would be proud of you for not caring about god enough to take a belief in one religion?

Achtung, Baby is the name of one of U2's greatest CDs... I know Dana is a pretty big U2 fan so i think that explains her screen name.. not sure if she's German though...

I'm pretty sure that AchtungBaby's screenname is derived from a U2 album, like IHE mentioned. And after looking at her responses in this thread, it appears that she's saying that she doesn't judge a potential boyfriend/husband based on his religious preference(with the exception of Catholicism and Islam) -- not that she doesn't care about religion at all herself. Of course, I could be mistaken... *shrug*

Regardless of her own religious preference, I know many atheists who are very decent, loving, good-hearted people -- and I'd much rather have them around me than some folks who attend church on a regular basis and profess to be good Christians, but whose actions prove that they really don't care a bit about anyone other than themselves.

Well, my DZ sisters are right--I got my screen name from one of U2's albums, as I have been a proud U2 fan since the age of 8!

No, UF_Pike, I'm not an atheist...I'm not any particular denomination, but I come from a family of strong Protestants. I'm not German, either; my great-granny's maiden name was Ginter, yes, but she's the only one I know of with a German last name. If you'd read my posts that closely, you would know that my family is of mostly English and Welsh descent. What I meant in my earlier posts was, I don't normally consider religion as a "make or break" factor when dating someone, unless it's a serious relationship and the person is a devout Muslim or Catholic and would want me to convert. Does that clear up anything?
