For those students of 'ancient' history (well before we were even thought of ), don't forget the little town of Hot Springs, New Mexico, which voted to rename itself 'Truth or Consequences' after the 50's game show. Locals today generally call the town 'T or C'.

This is correct..having lived in the state of New Mexico for almost 7 years, I don't think I ever heard anyone call it by its proper name..it was always referred to as 'T or C'

Ok, I am so glad I am not the only one who LOVES Press Your Luck! I love the Boy George Whammy that sings, "Do you really want to hurt me... Do you really want to make me cry... " complete with weird hair.
It's infilitrated my family's lingo, too. Whenever we're picking things, someone will say "Big buck, No Whammies, STOP!"
We're kind of odd folks, though. We love game shows.
Juniorgrrl, I always wanted to be on Teen Jeopardy, too. One of the guys I went to school with qualified to go on the show, but never got on. He thought he was so smart because he studied this little book, but one day I challenged him and won. It was actually really funny to see me as a sophomore out-trivia the number 5 student in the senior class.

To all you Press Your Luck fans....
....that have the Game Show Network
On Sunday, March 16, there will be a special documentary/PYL rerun of the infamous Michael Larson "scandal". An unemployed ice cream truck driver from Lebanon, Ohio memorized the PYL pattern, got on the show, and broke the bank ($110,237) by taking 45 consecutive spins w/o a Whammy. This ep has not aired since the original June 1984 CBS airing.
Tune your VCRs if you want to catch this!!

A few weeks ago I wasn't home and my husband let my 5 and 7 year olds watch Matchgame '76 on the Gameshow Network. Apparently one of the panelists referred to a woman's breasts as "knockers" and now I have these little girls running around my house saying things like, "Mommy, when will I get my own knockers"?
I think he does these things so I don't make him babysit very often
Oh, and here is a piece of useless gameshow trivia: Pat Sajak lives near me and I just saw him yesterday at Mailboxes Etc. buying postage stamps. TOLD you it was useless!

I just saw the new Let's Make a Deal the other night on TV. It so wasn't even anywhere near as cool as the original. I don't know, it just wasn't fun to watch.
I am not really into game shows, but my dad is hugely into Wheel of Fortune. When I was really young, my sister, dad, and I would all watch The Price is Right every day.

Price is Right is the best game show ever, hands down.
Senior year of college, a bunch of my sisters became obsessed with Game Show Network because we got it that year. We watched Match Game, Family Feud with Richard Dawson and the Newlywed Game every night.
They should put reruns of Double Dare on the Game Show Network. That show was awesome, too. I always wanted to run through the obstacle course.
Press Your Luck is another favorite. I despise the new Whammy! show, though. They should have stuck to the original format...WTF is up with the "double Whammy" BS? It sucks.

I also enjoy Win Ben Stein's Money.

The new Whammy sucks so much it's not even funny.
Maybe Its just me, but I don't get the Match Game.
