I pledged in Fall 99 so I might have met her at one time.

My brother was a Kappa Sig at Clemson so a lot of what I knew about sororities in the beginning came from him and his girlfriends. When I first rushed as a freshman I listened to his opinions too much and ended up dropping out because I was cut from the groups HE liked!

my older sister is a KAPPA ALPHA THETA at Fresno State University. she went alum in spring of 2001, and graduated in spring of 2002.
she was the first greek person in my family and it showed me so much about greek life. it actually sparked my interest in fraternities. when i rushed she was all about what houses San Diego State had, and what ones i was looking at. when i pledged a house i did not like, then droped it she was there for me to give much needed advice. i think its really cool to have someone older in your family who is greek and you can look up to.

well in my family, my sister is 12 years older than me. So her being greek did not really effect me at all, she was a Delta Gamma. The funny part was that when my family heard I went greek, they thought I was crazy since i was nothing like my sister. But I love it, and love my sorority sisters to death.

I am an Alpha Phi alum from UCSB, and my little sister is currently an Alpha Phi at Cal Poly SLO.

As of this year, there are three pairs of biological sisters who are Alpha Phi's at Santa Barbara & Cal Poly.

go figure....

My little brother is an ATO... If you're a Sigma Nu that's probably one of the greatest tragedies that could occur

(I'm over it)

They started recruiting him when he was still in highschool though. I was LC of my chapter at the time (2nd guy on the totem pole) and it may have been a little intimidating for him.

C'est la vie.

Hey UGAGal,
Does your brother still go to Clemson? Hmmm, probably wouldn't make a difference though, I dont know many Kappa Sigs. But I do know what you are talking about with brothers influence... my brother was like, "well so-and-so don't like me" and "xyz are the partyiers .. but abc are fun... " etc etc. It's kinda hard!! But I love Alpha Chi, we party hard and we're fun

I became a Zeta in March, 1995. My oldest sister became a member a year later. People always assume that just because she's older than I am, that she must have influenced me, but I'm quick to point out that she's my "little" big sister.

So far I'm the only Greek in my immediate family. I have an uncle and a couple of cousins that are Greek, but thats it. And my brother has some time to think about whether or not he'll be Greek, since he's only 4!!

However, when he heads off to college in 14 years, I will encourage him to go greek!! By that time, he'll have a brother-in-law who is a Sigma Nu, and uncle who is a Lambda Chi, a cousin who is SAE, and another uncle who is a Pike-so hopefully they can work on him!

UGAGal -
aw, gotcha!!

Oh yeah, my dad is also an AGR ... so we're pretty Greek driven. My mom's the only one in the family who isn't... and she even wanted me to go Greek when I was a freshman.

My little cousin started at Illinois this year in a dorm far away from the center of campus. I encouraged him to go greek since the day I found out he got accepted! I definetly shaped his opinion because when he got here, he asked what houses did I think that he'd like. And now he's a happy Delta Tau Delta (my original suggestion). He's also looking to move into the Delt house in the spring. Hooray!

My brother went to business school, so wasn't a Greek, but...

Literally EVERYONE on my street who went to college was a Greek! More interestingly, no one is in the same GLO!! I think growing up seeing "The Lyre" and "The Trident" and other fraternity/sorority paraphenalia around my friends' homes did a number on me - when I went to college, I honestly thought that anyone who wasn't a Greek had tried to pledge, but wasn't accepted!!
