PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, Get some recs lined up! Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go by the web site. That is one of the FIRST criteria competative recruitments use to trim down the numbers.
Thank you justamom for wording this so well! SEC schools are notorious for being extremely competitive during formal recruitment. It's probably not too late to obtain recs, so just ask if you have questions about the rec process. I'm sure one of us would be happy to help

Re: Rush in 1 month!

-What was your biggest fear going into rush?

I actually didn't go through Formal Rush. I thought I was too cool and independant to be in a sorority, and even though my parents really tried to encourage me to go through Rush I wouldn't do it. Some Kappa friends invited me to dinner during spring Informal Rush my sophmore year, even as I was walking to the house I was thinking "This isn't my scene, I'm not the type, blah blah blah." So... guess I was wrong!

-Is there alot of competition between the girls rushing amongst eachother?

I can't really answer that since I didn't go through Formal Rush...

-What would you say is THE BEST thing about your sorority life? And if you have one...the worst?

I love the friends I've made. They are beautiful and amazing and supportive and loving. I love them. They have made my life fuller and richer and a whole lot more fun. I have met the women that are going to be my bridesmaids. The things that I'm not too fond of are things like date functions, because all of the guy friends I have are either very self-centered or gay or both (it comes of being a theatre major...) so I have issues finding a good guy to bring to things like that - I always want to attend the functions and party with my sisters, but I hate having to find a date!

Erin...
I can feel your excitment. Going greek is an important part of a persons life.... just remeber that you are amazing and your heart will lead you to the bonds of siterhood where you belong...
As far as me...
My biggest fear
I went through formal recruitment and it totally freaked me out.but after a while I started to feel at home with certain GOLS and felt like I had a place there. My biggest fear was not getting a bid at all, but waht is meant to be happens.
Competition
It was fierce but I didn't let that distract me. I went with what was in my heart now with what was hot.
Best thing about sisterhood
Meeting people you wouldn't usually say more than hello to. My fave thing to do is to just sit with my sisters and talk. It makes you relize your more than letters your women who care about each other and show it.
