I am super excited about recruitment!! I just went to orientation last week and I met a lot of other girls going through rush too and we drove down the main road the campus is on to check out some of the houses! The ones we saw were all beautiful, but we couldn't find houses for some of the sororities. One of our Orientation Advisors was in a fraternity, so he gave us a lot of info on greek life. We also got to pick up applications and I sent mine off yesterday!! I am so excited!! Only 8 weeks to go! YEA!

I'm really excited for our new girls to experience rush from the "other side". I remember my first time as a member and it was awesome!

SUPER EXCITED
I am soooo excited about Rushing this fall. My Rush starts Aug 21 and I am super nervous, but super excited at the same time. I am afraid everything will be a little overwhelming (just beginning school and being away from home AND to add to that Rushing). I could just explode with the anticipation and excitement though.

Hopeful
I'm really excited for rush but it seems that I'll have to wait until fall quarter just to go to any COB events. More hopeful than nervous. With 16 sororities on campus, I'm bound to find at least one I really click with. I'm curious about something...are the girls who rush and join through COB regarded as not as important as the formal rushees?

I still haven't decided if I'm going to go through formal rush this fall (did it last fall and informal spring, but got my hopes set on 1 house- didn't work out)... I really am thinking about rushing, but I'm really nervous cuz i don't know what the houses will think. I hope they don't think bad of me because this would be my 3rd rush (ie- think I'm undesirable)... If i do go through again, I know more of the girls in different houses, but still have no recs (which aren't very important at my school, but every little bit counts)... I wish everybody good luck and hope everything works out!

You should not be treated any differently than a girl who has gone through formal rush.

JoyfulMuse--people who go through informal rush (like me!) are every bit as important as the formal rushees.
And about Rush/Recruitment....I hate to seem like I have a bad attitude but I really hate it. I'm horrible at small talk and I get so nervous beforehand. Plus it's hard when, like at my chapter, you know most of the people you give bids to are going to turn them down. It's also hard when you only have 12 people in a house to work with and you don't fit into any sorority stereotypes!!

Just got home from a weekend in Nebraska and my only opportunity of the summer to help out with rush, but seeing the guys we've signed and hearing how well everything is going has me super excited to see the rest of our pledges!!!
The signees I met yesterday are all frickin' studs...really have their stuff together and it was great to get a chance to hang out with them.
Everything our Rush chairs said yesterday as well was super positive: We had 13 guys signed, handed out 4 more bid cards yesterday, and have a list of guys who want to sign with us that is close to 30 people long...we should have no trouble reaching our goal of 24 pledges!!!

I'm super excited about rush , I hope to find a group of sisters that I can feel totally comfortable with and be able to tell all my secrets to. Good luck to all my fellow girls who are also rushing!

From what I understand of UCLA greek life... it's not VERY competetive.. there are a lot of girls going through.. so a rec would probably help you stand out... but almost all of the girls going through end up getting bids (bids aren't a given, but) it's not like some of the cut throat southern schools out there. I hope this helps and if you want I can put you in touch with some members there.. I have quite a few friends there that I can put you in touch with.

OK, I should be wicked excited about rush, but I'm incredibly nervous. If anything goes wrong, my chapter is toast. The class graduating next year just happens to be huge- in May we'll be losing half the current brothers. If we don't replace them, we won't be able to fill the house.
I know we can do it, and there's nothing to worry about, and it's going to be great, but the high stakes take a lot of the fun out of the whole thing. I was really excited until somebody pointed out the graduation thing. Oh well.
59 more days......
