As everyone has said, the adoption process is easy. When I transferred chapters, I got a new big at that campus. I thought it was cool to have two families.

Thanks so much for all your help. I am going to bring this up as soon as fall semester starts. I am even going to ask my Adopted Big if she would want to exchange gifts and sign adoption papers. What great ideas! You all have been so helpful.

Adoptions are not a practice my fraternity approves of. Our family trees are very formal and since anyone can and does get upset at their big/little temporarily, we would definitely have had many people switch family alliances and just end up with this big mess of people half related to each other.

The only case where "adoptions" happen are before initiation, in which case we discover late in the semester that one set of a brother and pledge do not mesh well and prefer a bond with a different brother that they hit it off with. It's so far always worked out for the best that way.
