I thought that I would have been registered and to my First by now but each time it comes around I am not financially able to attend. Although I have attended a Regional Conference
Soror, I crossed April of 1996 and this is going to be my first National Convention. I'm set with everything but the transportation which should be worked out next week. I remember in 1996 some of my line sisters went to the National Convention but I couldn't afford it so I'm very excited about Atlanta. I've been fortunate to be able to attend the last three Eastern Regional Conferences largely because they've been within a 10 hour drive. I do have compassion for you----Delta is expensive! I wouldn't feel bad about not being able to go because when you are ready---you will enjoy it that much more!

In my opinion, collegiate sorors really have no excuse. Alumnae sorors are always looking out for truly motivated collegiate sorors. Although, I know I can only speak for my chapter. Dade County Alumnae always had Iota Pi's back. But, I've seen other collegiate chapters cry about the expenses of conventions, etc. yet they are always the first sorors renting a luxury SUV for a roadtrip.
Don't just put this on collegiate or recently (10 years or less) initiated sorors. It happens a lot with 20+ years Deltas also. And they are the ones who usually do it on purpose and then brag about all the ones they have been to and how they used someone else's badge to get in various activities. Those are the ones that irk me, not the sorors who really WANT to register, etc. and just cannot financially swing it.

To the point that CT4 made. My chapter (and me personally) ENCOURAGE nonfinancial sorors to work on committees and yes attend conventions/conferences even if they are not registered because we believe that keeping them exposed will make them even harder working members when they can be financial.

As I said earlier, I was lucky because my mother helped me out in my early years. But not everyone has such a resource. Without her, I too would not have been able to be a registered attendee for some time.
