Have to agree with you Dionysus---my PERSONAL opinion is the majority of 80's music was like sucking on wind---just plain empty. There are ALWAYS exceptions. If you don't have something to say...why are ya sayin it??? Disco was sooo bad so repitious. I ALMOST like rap when you compare it to the commercial stuff floating on the airways in the 80's, and that says a LOT! (actually SOME rap is starting to grow on me)

Most of those things are very in from where i am. Most people never really wore the very flared jeans/pants, but they do wear the bootcut pants with a slight flare. They have been wearing them and are still wearing them.
I never liked Britney Spears anyway, but i think a lot of the teeny boppers still like and want to be like her
Ill agree with you on Survivor though, what season are they on now? 5? I just didnt think that many people watched the show for it to go on as long as it has.

I'm from NY so people here used to wear very flared pants, Express still sells them in their jeans. We have been wearing bootcut for a while. "In" styles differ from state to state but I was just stating what was not in style anymore here. Less people are wearing Kate Spade and more Louis Vuitton also. And Seven jeans are definately "in" where I live.
I think it's the 4th Survivor show. It still has good ratings from what I hear on those entertainment shows. But I don't really hear it being as popular.

Among the REAL fashion world, the 80s are in.....among the mere mortals in the real world, it hasn't happened yet. Remember how long ago they started trying to bring back the 70s stuff, the flare pants.....as someone who survived the 80s fashions the first time I can tell you I was one of the ones who refused to buy the stuff when it first started creeping onto store racks in the mid-90s. "Why do the designers insist on this stuff??? Nobody is EVER going to wear bell-bottoms again!!!!" I said. And what is my closet full of? I can't imagine ever going back to pegged pants. I promise you, sometime within the next 5 years, the 70s retro will be totally gone and it will be back to slim tapered pants, pleats, shoulder pads, big boxy blazers and skinny ties. Guarantees. It is only a matter of time. They will change things enough that you won;t be able to pull out your real 80s relics and make them look good, but the basic style elements will be there. You wait. (And thankfully I'll be too damn old to follow the trend!!!!)
