Hey Andi!
It's great to hear about another Rainbow girl.. I think I am the only one on my campus. I am junior past Grand Charity of my jurisdiction and I'm a rainbow girl through and through. The experiences I have had in that organization have shown me what true sisterhood is all about ( I have no biological sisters). I would do anything for the girls I have met through this group.. and this is why I wanted to join a sorority in college.. so I could have that bond at school.
The idea of talking to the panhellanic advisor at my school sounds good.. I know that approximately 200 girls signed up for rush.. but I think MAYBE 100-150 are in a sorority now. I think it's kind of low. I also know girls who would benefit from being in a greek org and want to be in one but dislike the ones here.

In Rainbow Love,

Sarah

I'm very curious about what school you attend. I strongly suggest that you check out the sororities at your school before you decide to start a new one. Good luck!

BTW, JAP is considered a derrogatory term by many people, and I suggest that you refrain from using it in order to avoid offending someone. My friends used to say it as a description or even a compliment, but I haven't heard it a long time.

I think there is a girl from my school who uses this forum.. actually I'm pretty sure she goes here because she mentioned a party at a bar where I've been several times, and I guess I don't want her to be offended about my first post.
I go to American University in Washington, D.C. I love the school and the city and everything like that, but I guess I just don't fit into the greek scene here. I'm not bad mouthing it or anything, maybe being in a sorority just isn't for me.

confused, do not give up hope! I started my own local with the idea of affiliating with a large National!

I was turned down by many! Mainly because it was a State College!

It was a whole lot of work and I recruted a few guys that I knew!

The reason I started it was I had been Black Balled in an other House. While I knew many guys from all of the other houses, I just wanted to start something of my own! Hell that is the way I am!

I had a lot of help from Eric Conard the TKE Advisor at the time and polital guys on campus from the other Houses. Much coming from of the Guys of the Fraternity that I was booted from!

We won out over another small national that was try9ing to come on and the school would only take one! I won! Yea!

I did not ask anyone and just did it! Well we became recognaized by the other Greeks more so than the other group! I knew more people as You can tell I am the shy and researved type! Ha

Reason I started a new group , I wanted something different and so did many of the guys who came to us! @ half were booted out of other Fraternitys also so they fit in with me!

Interviewed 2 Fraternitys and looked at us. We chose LXA. Colonized at the end of the school year. Chartered 3 yeas later.
Started with LXA in 1966 and today are looking at build a new house!

You will work your butt off it you start a new group, but it is the most rewarding thing I ever did! I would not give it up for anything!

Last night, I was at a Brothers house stuffing envelopes to mail out! So, I have been doing this since 1965!

Ah to much to read, i am out of here!

Talking

hi confused!
i definately recommend rushing again in the fall! you seem to already have a strong sense of sisterhood and any chapter that would pass that up is crazy!!! i could even call you a sister one day being as phi sigma sigma has a chapter at american! and from what i have heard they are a strong group! my suggestion is to go through rush and see what you think then...if the worst happens (which it shouldnt!) then you can drop out. but most people find the place where they belong...with girls who they can be themselves with! good luck with your decision and if you decide to rush in the fallyou will have to keep us posted!!!
