Short Hair

How on earth is this going to happen with girls with short hair?
Hello? Bobbed hair, flippy bobs? Stacked hair? Emma Watson cuts?

Oh wait it won't happen with short hair!

Then again do girls in the south know what a short hair cut is?
Aside from the 1960s and 1970s cuts?

They do. Remember, the hair flipping video was of west coast girls.

If you search 'sorority outfits' or 'sorority dresses' on Pinterest and Google Images you will see some dresses pinned with accessories -- some specific to sorority.

It looks as if some companies are trying to fill a niche for matching recruitment clothing for actives:

This blogger wrote about recruitment outfits for chapters:

And also "Bad Recruitment Outfits" for actives:

Checked out the blogs: I LOLed at her criticism of the AGDs in what she thought were yellow striped skirts. Unless another AGD chapter does this, this is the Auburn chapter and those are aprons that they wear OVER their outfits on philanthropy day.

And she doesn't like cotton in hot weather but loves Lilly? What does she think those dresses are made of? She did have some nice choices of "do" outfits.

I really liked all of her "don't" outfits. They were classy, tasteful, pretty, and stylish.

That is the Auburn AGD chapter - I recognize the room. Several of the other chapters at Auburn have aprons like this for philanthropy day when they do a craft.

I thought those looked like aprons too! And thought they were pretty cute.

I agree with her comment that the dresses monogrammed across the chest look cheap. But the comment about cotton in summer made no sense at all.

I'm not really a fan of all dresses matching (maybe memories of Serious Night long ago -- looking like bridesmaids all bedecked in matching Qiana).

I think I do like different dresses in the same colors -- or I like these anyway -- I guess easy to do in Lilly if your colors are pink and green:

They all look so cute, but I think sandals would look better than the nude pumps.

(And just in case my response wasn't clear, I was laughing at the blogger and her misinterpretation of the AGDs ensembles, not at the Auburn AGDs, who are a terrific chapter.)

I like what my chapter's doing for recruitment outfits this year-we're given a range of color options and told to pick a flattering and appropriate dress within that color palette. Obviously I can't go into exactly what colors we're wearing or else our formal recruitment chair would bite my head off but in general it's much easier for girls to individually find dresses that look good on them then for the whole chapter to order one style of dress that won't look good on everyone.

As for Lilly dresses, I love Lilly dresses in general but I don't think they're a good idea during recruitment. One chapter at Clemson wore Lilly during their philanthropy round and while the girls looked cute individually there was no cohesiveness as a group. It was also very difficult to tell who was a PNM and who was an active because they all looked so alike. A Lilly theme for Bid Day would look cute if the chapter and campus culture on the whole supported it.

That sounds like a good idea to me!

That's a good point -- imagine the panic of the PNM in her cute pink and green Lilly when the door flies open to reveal a sea of singing actives in pink and green Lilly -- many wearing the same dress she is wearing.

It wasn't Lilly, but when I went through rush I had the exact same dress as the Gamma Phis, only with the colours reversed; they wore red with blue polka dots and I had blue with red polka dots. Very awkward. Another rushee asked if I was the president and that's why my dress was different.

I think the blogger was spot on regarding the minnie mouse on one girl. Most other comments were ridiculous.

I do think some styles of the sorority embroidered letter dress look like bathing suit cover ups.

It just depends SO MUCH on campus culture, though. If other groups are doing t-shirts and shorts that round, maybe it's okay? I dunno, I happened to be in Austin during roundup this year and all the sorority women had lettered FANNY PACKS, so I have stopped trying to figure out what is cool.

I agree that Minnie Mouse is a don't. I really don't get the business/office look either.

The blogger has some other sort of entertaining comments elsewhere on her blog:
