I considered that. However, I've found that often veers off into discussions that are not as civilized as public ones - hence my addition of the disclaimer. I truly was trying to help as it seems they aren't talking with many others outside of GC.

Alumnus = one male "alum"
Alumna = one female "alum"
Alumnae = two or more female "alums"
Alumni = two or more "alums" either a mix -or- all male

The above, while correct and I highly encourage to use the correct words, is woefully infrequently used by actual sorority women. So do your best but know this is a gripe we have of SOOOOO many people, not just you.
The rec problem is actually pretty short-lived. You do your work now and then that's one box checked off. The statement above about preparing for cuts that seem arbitrary or the opposite of expectations is really good. What happens when you get cut by half of the sororities after round 1, and ALL of your favorites are gone? It happens A LOT so going in understanding that can help the heartache. Maybe.
The other thing I would spend some quality time working on is conversation skills. Have answers ready for all of the obvious questions and try to be prepared with conversation starters. The rushers can also be 1-new and nervous 2-tired 3-bored or 4-just really bad at rush. If she can be prepared to pick up the conversational slack, rush will go more smoothly for her. I've heard of Moms asking daughters rush-type questions while in the car on the way from here to there. It's just a few minutes (the length of time of the typical rush conversation) and the awkwardness of it is pretty on point with some (or a lot) of rush conversations.
Start now to turn her Facebook and Twitter pages into marketing tools. Don't shut them down, clean them up and make her look like the Snowflake she is.

I frequently say and write alumnae for mixed or say and write alumnae/alumni. I also ask people not to use "alumni" if including me. I tell that to my alma maters every time they call for donations.

I have to respectfully disagree on this. The bulk of the registrations don't come in until right before the first deadline, and a HEAP of them come in after. Unsolicited recs are still in the minority.
I can assure you that recs that arrive after May 1...and June 1...and even June 30 are welcome!
But after July 1 is getting problematic. They are beginning to get short of time just to process the paperwork.

You misread my post! I said that if they wait till recruitment they might get tossed. And waiting till May 1 is fine.

You and me both! I usually correct people when they write it wrong.
