Hey UMgirl, I agree...what's going on?

Although I think it is in bad taste. These girls are usually college age on vaction blowing off steam. Sometimes peolpe forget what it is/was like in school. We call do crazy things, these girls might have been a little too crazy for me, but regardless they are young and I bet if they ended up on tape they wouldn't do it again.

It's hard to judge people if they are drunk and on a break, you know that's not an everyday thing.

Ok, forgive me if I am having a "senior moment" here and forgetting the facts, but Lexi weren't you the one who thought that posing for Playboy was just so morally wrong and awful and God knows neither you nor any of your sisters would do something like that???? But walking around on the street flashing your tits is just a good fun way to blow off steam? Sorry to be a total bitch but if that is the case then your "morality" might be a little bit screwed up.

UMGirl.....I just don't know. In my own experience (and in a number of professional observations by people far more qualified than myself) people who feel compelled to try and draw attention to themselves are not usually doing so because they want to be called ugly or fat or flat-chested or whatever. They are seeking approval of some sort, be it whoops and cheers from the guys or else a neckful of silly plastic beads to show off and say "Look what I got!" And generally speaking, people who are self-assured and high in self-esteem do not feel the need to seek that attention....at least not in such an inappropriate manner. Whether it is just in good fun or not, exposing one's body out on the street or in a club or other public place is inappropriate, plain and simple, not to mention the fact that it can get you arrested. I'm not saying that there aren't girls out there who just think they're hot sh*t and like to show off, but classically, the majority of these people aren't like that.

To each his own.....

SAE at USC had a pornographic film created at their chapter house. Some SAE's from my university took a road trip to visit their brothers and take in the refined entertainment.

Yes, it is bad to judge people. I'm very guilty of it. It's human nature to pass judgements....doesn't make it right, but it happens. *shrugs*......But I feel that when you are putting yourself on a video that's being advertised on television, you are setting yourself up to be criticized or admired for that matter. And there are consequences for behavior, especially ones that are videotaped. (Check out Rob Lowe's life!)

I always weigh my actions in the sense of is what I'm doing going to embarrass my parents? "Having fun" should not make ANY parents' question how they brought their children up.

LexiKD, im glad that we agree on something ( ), even though like ErikaXO, im a lil confused by it b/c of your opinion about playboy. But I know at times we view things that are kind of in the same category differently.

ErikoXO, i understand where you're coming from completely. Its just that in my opinion, you have three categories of ppl who do this. One, like you said is the girl who is seeking approval from men because she doesnt have much self esteem for herself. Then theres the "God I am so hot, and look better than anyone else, so Im gonna show my stuff" girl, who just does it to be a B&%$@ in a way. These make up the majority. Then you have the last group that just does it b/c its like a girls night out of fun and people get a rush off being silly, people start daring ppl and so on. Its one of those time were you just wanna let lose and get a little rowdy.(That would be my situation, cuz I definately know im not the hottest thing out there, everyone has different taste, but I have a great self esteems to know, yeah I do have faults (who doesnt)but im make the best of what I have knowing that Im not unattractive either but your average decent girl)
I think what just got me going a little was the white trash comments ( i hate anything that refers to race in a neg tone) and the fact that it seemed to generalize that all girls who do sucj stuff have little to no self esteem. But like I said you have a very good and valid point!

One of my buddies said that some girls he knows from high school were in one of the GGW videos from PCB. He said at the time they were under 18.

Also, another friend bought the first GGW DVD online or whatever, and then he was away from home for the summer. They kept sending more videos, part of the purchase agreement I'm sure, but he wasn't around to send them back, so he ended up with all of them being charged to his credit card. i really don't think he minded keeping them though

Damn Erika, Tell us what you really think, don't keep holding back . . lol

pbpck: Good for SAE! great college momento

Moxiegirl, I hope your parents embarrassed themselves a bit, its part of living life. If you never have a risque moment, you never pushed life's envelope and always allowed yourself to be circumscribed the way other people want you to behave . . . often while they are out doing what they are preaching against!lol

The self esteem issue really doesn't come into play unless the person is being pressured into it against their will. So they are really unwilling to flash but peer pressure makes them do it.

Alcohol induced flashing is a whole nother matter.

Now doing it and then getting all righteous and indignant because people are watching you or commenting might not be real rational.

As for the videos, they are pretty entertaining. I think I'll take a video camera to my next spring break and see how far we can push the envelope.

UMgirl, I get you totally. Didn't mean to "attack" or anything, I was just kind of foaming at the mouth over other people's comments....

Lexi did you get my PM.......didn't mean to attack you either....being a very frank and blunt person (thanks James!) I detest hypocrisy or perceived hypocrisy

Ok, point taken. I guess it's one thing to embarrass your parents, and another thing to make them feel as if they didn't raise you right. *shrugs*

(At the water cooler)

"Hey, I umm.....saw your daughter on the GGW video.."

"Wha, wha, what??!!"

(uncomfortable silence)

I think it's the whole "behavior on videotape" part that bothers me more than the behavior.....

Or maybe I'm just bored and want to argue..

Either way, I'm going back to bed. Debates are cool. So are opinions. *blows kisses*

Ok Here goes: Yes I have issues regading Playboy and Pornography. These other "girls gone wild" type things are during a time in a person's life when we all have done some crazy things. Some crazier than others.

BUT: Sending in pictures to intentionally be nude in a national publication is different. Similiar but different. There has to be some consideration for intent. The women in playboy and such are sober/willing participants and the "girls gone wild" are college women on break not in a sober state, not thinking about the responsibility of anything much less their letters.

I work a lot with our college members and they think very differently then I do and so I have learned to think from their point of view on some issues. I wouldn't suggest flashing anything, but in these cases they are usually not under normal circumstances. It doesn't make it better, just different.

Erika: I never said Playboy was about moralitiy, it was about your choice to subject your family/organization to that type of publicity.

You all may be interested to know that a few months ago, some guy was arrested for filming two under-aged girls(13 years old-15 years old). He claimed they lied and said they were over 18. The tapes were supposed to be for a Girls Gone Wild-type tape. It was filmed somewhere in the Florida Panhandle during Spring Break time. Seems the parents found a tape & saw some of it. They took it to the police. It was in our local paper because it was only a few counties away.

Oh wow that really sucks, that can be up to 20 years in prison depending on the state. Unless its a federal statute.

yeah, if the crime occured across state lines then yes it would be a felony if it was on the books. CJ major here. Sounds like they are definitely going to be potentially facing a lot of time.

I have seen one of these "films" - I was under the impression that they went to spring break places and gave video cameras to kids and told them to tape parties and getting drunk etc - the production people went along with them, but its the kids that actually filmed it.

I especially hate it when these Girls Gone Wild video commercials have a "Sorority Sweethearts" bonus!! As if the stereotype isn't bad enough these stupid commercials exploit sorority girls as bonuses!
