I always wanted to have a Speakeasy or Great Gatsby themed party. You only get in through the secret door if you have the password. They would have Flapper girl dresses and long pearls and a live jazz band.

And if you don't have that password you can just spend the party dancing.

A real garden party. It would have to be all outside, and the chapter would have to have a big enough patio/terrace/backyard space to accommodate. It could not be a "no-frills" party -- everyone would wear their favorite casual sundress, and sweet tea and different flavors of sherbet would be served. Lots of containers of roses and peonies (the alumns could take them home afterwards).

My chapter had a garden-theme party, but it was nothing like this.

My Chapter had a flapper party at Ole Miss back in the 80's, but no passwords.

Arya is the legacy that you were not sure would fit in - but she turns out to be Miss Awesome.

Dany is the PNM that all the chapters want.

Brienne is the girl that's made to stay in the kitchen during rush.

LOL

Cercei is the "mean girl" member who blatantly snubs any PNM she feels is beneath her top tier house. Even if you get a bid, she's still mean to you.

What I wouldn't give for a party to make the introverts feel welcomed too. Some people just take a while to warm up. Traditional rush is the worst environment for them.

Maybe an open-house, coffeehouse atmosphere afternoon. Or a real philanthropy function, where those who are the great behind-the-scenes workers can shine.

Divide into teams and have water balloon fights, complete with slingshots!

Actually, you could combine this with my garden-party idea, and see what happens ...

That would REALLY be hilarious!
Move the peonies and roses inside first, please!

Petting zoo. Not practical, definitely weird, and possibly smelly - but I just feel like pygmy goats would make even the worst party better.

Not only smelly but landmines everywhere!

The team division would, of course, be "random". Desirable PNMs and top rushers on one side, vs. undesirable PNMs and weaker rushers on the other side.
