I meant there were only 4 NPHC sororities. I had assumed the original poster was female, and then I realized there was no basis for that assumption.

Geez ONELove that's amazing! Your rate of expansion beats many of the larger GLO's who have staff that do this stuff 24/7!
Guess we'd better put multicultural groups on our radars as we'll probably be seeing lots of them soon.

You need to find other schools with people who think as you do and start a chapter there, and keep doing it. If you have say 25-35 chapters then you can be considered a National if you are in several states. International if you are in more than one country.

Tom E., I totally disagree with you. If you have the determination to make your local become national you can. Technically, you are national if you have more than 1 chapter.
~ONELOVE, I agree with the vision of expansion. Once you have a few chapters established, everything else will fall into place.

Ooops my bad Fuzzie Alum.... .....and thanks Ktsnake....I think that the key to seeing your org grow and stay unified at the same time is dedicated members....if we didn't ahve the amazing women we have that are willing to work hard then we wouldn't be where we are today.....

Actually your not considered national until you have over 25 chapter. Your just aren't local anymore if you have more than one chapter. I believe they call that regional.

Well Theta Nu Xi is a national sorority, although we do not have 25 chapters we are still expanding across the U.S and we are by no means regional since our chapters range from Texas to Utah to North Carolina to Pittsburg....
I guess its all left up to whos standards your going by......

I guess the way most people look at it is, you're not "national" until you're a member of NPC, NIC, or NPHC. I have to say to call a group "regional" they'd have to be concentrated in one area of the country.
I suspect the Latino/a Greek umbrella organization will reach that state some day, but I don't think they are there yet, since many orgs within it are still quite small.
That doesn't help TNZ, who might not want to join NPC or NPHC (and for sure won't join NIC!). The smallest NPC/NPHC sorority has 50-ish chapters and the rest have at least 100 ... so I guess the day Theta Nu Xi has that many will be when we consider it national.
In the meantime, I'm impressed with its growth!

I agree with you ONElove. As far as the 25 chapter thing....that's according to who Since we are attached to no governing body or any other sorority, if we say that we are an Up and Coming National or even National org. we are.... That's the beauty of being an Independent Sorority.

There is a chapter of a sorority at my school that was just founded 15 or so years ago. Maybe you should look at them and see how they did it.

Onelove,
I also agree. Looking at historical documents from my International Fraternity - the founders say - "we became a national fratnerity when we established our second chapter...." I do have to admit that was a little paraphrasing as I don't have the entire REAL quote in front of me.
But anyways - who ever said 25 was the establishment for NATIONAL? Major props to a new local that expands across campuses! That only gives me hope that the Greek System is not failing but growing daily! Toot Toot - get on the Greek Train we're steam rolling forward!
