But we all know that rules like these don't mean that some chapters, or some members of some chapters, may nevertheless let things like religion color their opinions and decisions.
Rules like this also don't mean that even when a chapter isn't discriminating -- consciously or unconsciously -- a chapter with members that are overwhelmingly of one faith, or (as has been discussed on GC recently) with rituals that draw on a particular faith,
might be an uncomfortable fit for
some members of a different faith. I think the latter is what the OP was asking about as much as overt discrimination.
