Exactly. So when he blames her for his abuse getting him banned, he can just abuse her in private and she gets the memo that others just don't really care.

Banning her essentially says, "Hey girl, watching you get abused is ruining our good times... so, uhhhh... could you go get abused someplace else? K thanx"

They ban her from the house, they break up, he starts seeing someone new and abuses her at the house too... they aren't removing the real problem.

Her presence doesn't increase the risk of violence... the presence of the ABUSER increases the risk of violence. She's not abusing herself.

Without writing a thesis here I'll just say that by the time an abuser actually starts physically abusing within a relationship, the psychological ability for the person being abused to just leave has been so damaged it's often so profoundly difficult most non-abused folks will just never understand.
