Oh Yes SoCalGirl! I just love how people think they know secrets and rituals; they go around telling everyone like its the gospel truth. I have yet to hear someone from outside my GLO tell me any correct secret info about my group. People are forever saying they know the meaning of our colors or letters but they just look silly because they are just spreading the same tired rumors
I personally don't know anyone else's secrets and agree with most people that I wouldn't want to.

This is so true! I had heard that my sorority is mentioned on one of those stupid "secrets" websites and I couldn't help but look it up to see what they have to say. Although I probably should neither confirm nor deny, let's just say that I got a big kick out of finding out what our letters REALLY stand for!

I heard about this website revealing a certain sorority's secrets and curiousity got the best of me so I checked it out. I really hope it was a joke and not the truth because it was pretty weird.

Personally, I find rituals fascinating. I feel that most of them are a work of art. I would love to know every ritual out there, but then again a huge feeling of guilt would follow. I feel that rituals are a thing of beauty, but I know how I would feel if mine got out. So I think it is better to just be content with what you have. I know that I couldn't be more content with my ritual.

Question

I find it very interesting how secretive you are about your symbols (rituals, I can understand as well, but not as strictly as you see it) - I mea, we have our rituals and symbols and we surely don't brag around about it, but if people ask we can and do tell - no big deal.
Is that specific for sororities or are the fraternities as secretive about this stuff? And, please don't be offended, but how does that go with the idea of not being secret societies anymore. Were there times in history when this was different? Maybe I am mixing some things up, so please excuse my ignorance and again, please don't be offended - and no, I don't want secret info

I guess, a lot of people - those who put the website on rituals up and such - find this stuff so interesting becaue it is so "secret", like little children: they always want what they cannot get even though it does not mean a thing to them...
