I was an active runner a couple of years ago-- participating in mostly 5K's and a few 10K's-- that is until I pulled my back out! OUCH! I couldn't run let alone walk for the following mth.
Sold my Peachtree Road Race # for a nice profit though. lol.
I LOVE doing races(well, just 5K's) but I am not a great runner. I am a very good walk/runner. I can run for usually about the first mile to mile and a half and then I walk/run the rest. But I have done 3 5K's so far and I have LOVED doing them. LOVE getting the T-shirt too. As far as websites, I reccomend www.active.com for race sites--its where I find most of mine!
There are groups of "Hash House Harriers" all over the world- they describe themselves as "a beer drinking club with a running problem".
Apparently, they get together to run races- marked by flour on a trail...at the end of the race awaits BEER! It's much more complicated than what I described, but that seems to be what it is.
