I went to a kindergarten reunion once. When I was kid, there was no kindergarten in public schools, so kindergarten was a private thing, often run in churches or homes. I went to a morning kindergarten run by a woman in a small house in her backyard. We all loved it and her (and her husband, who would drop in occasionally).

A few years ago, spurred by the posting of our kindergarten "class" picture on facebook, we had a reunion with our teacher, at that point over 100 years old. It was fun, and very cool to do.

My 10 year reunion was in June and the turn out was horrible. I was. On the planning committee. We tried everything to get people to go but most didn't. I just think with all the social media now everyone can see what everyone else is up to and there is no need for reunions anymore.

From my perspective, social media is great and serves a useful purpose, but it isn't at all a substitute for actually seeing people and conversing with them. I don't go to reunions to see what people are doing now. I go to reunions to visit with those people.

My 10 year reunion was much more fun than I expected. About 2/3 of our class of 350 or so came. Most of my class went to school with each other 6th-12th grades, but some had been together all 12 years. Everyone, save for a handful, was really nice to each other, chatting each other up. I got hugs from people I never did in high school. The women looked fantastic, but so many of the guys I barely recognized - they had beer guts, were balding, and just generally hadn't aged as well as the women. I was glad I went

So True!

Location is key. Noisy bars where a reunion-hired DJ refuses to turn down his loud music (because he's the center of attention, not the people you want to converse with whom you haven't seen in years) happen.

And who wants to go to a bar, even for a planned reunion, if you're on the wagon?

Cost can be a factor. Groups in our area plan reunions coinciding with HS Homecoming Games, so people who can't afford a costly party meet in a designated area of the stadium before/during the game. Some area schools have re-built, and offer free tours of their new facilities to alumni during reunion weekends.

I was once told that the 20th Reunion is the most interesting, as many of the women (those who married right out of high school) are becoming grandmothers, and others are just becoming married or mothers.

Didn't make me go to mine, though. I went to my 5th year, and it's a good thing that the knives weren't sharp. It was so completely boring, I would have opened a vein! I spent most of the evening talking to the Homecoming Queen, who was equally bored.

Oh, and if you're single, DO NOT go with a friend of the same sex! You may need your car to flee!

I went to both the 10 and 20 year reunion. Had a blast at both but I tend to stay on the dance floor most of the time. I love a good party. The 20 year was at a hotel which was nice-party until 2, then just go upstairs party some more, then crash. One of my classmates owns a bar/dance club so we went there for a few hours as well. Can't wait for the 30th!! We usually make it a whole weekend of events-anyone else do this?

My husband's class usually has a casual get together on Friday night, a brunch or picnic Saturday or Sunday morning and the big party Saturday night.

They also have mini reunions on the five year marks too.

I went to my 5 year reunion. It was too soon. The boy I crushed on from 2nd grade through our senior year confessed he always wanted to ask me out but was intimidated because I always had boyfriends from other schools. Of course, I was engaged to my first husband when he made this confession *sigh*. He was much higher caliber than any of those boys I dated. He should have asked me out. He's a CFO for a very large company now.. makes millions. He really should have asked me out.

I missed my 10 year reunion because I was on my honeymoon with my second husband. I went to HIS 10 year reunion and it sucked because, although I knew his buddies' wives, they were off socializing with people they hadn't seen in a long time.

I attended my 20 year reunion and had big fun. The women all looked fantastic, the guys were all balding with beer bellies. I didn't recognize most of the men. I had a really good time though. It helped, I think, that the women in my group of friends decided to leave the husbands/SOs at home. They wouldn't have known anybody so they would be dragged around listening to people reminisce without being able to contribute, etc.

My 30th should be next year. I will go.
