I had a lot of non-Greek friends who opposed my going Greek because you know that Greeks are all snobby and elitist ... and ended up being a lot more snobby and rude than the Greeks were to them. On the other hand, I know tales of several best friends/roommates where one girl joined a sorority. At first the other one was resentful, then jealous, and then said, "Hey, I want in too!" and rushed and got a bid and lived, more or less, happily ever after. I don't know which way your friend will go, but I'd suggest you drag her to a COB event.

I really cant help you with advice but I can say you are not alone. I have people pulling at me from three sides: boyrfriend, friends, and sisters. Why can't people understand that equality does not retract from love.

DGPledge,

I totally feel for you, it can be hard when you're best friend isn't Greek. My best friend, who've I known since I was 5, isn't Greek nor does she even go to the same university as me. She feels extremely left out of everything, even though I invite her to every event I can. All you can really do is let your best friend how much she means to you and try to get her involved as much as possible. The choice is up to her!

A lot of my friends from high school decided not to go greek and I was worried about how things would be between us once I joined my sorority. Things are still great though because, despite that we still have the things in common that caused us to be friends to begin with!

I have had a problem with my best friend the past couple of days She isn't even interested in greek life but I love her and all my new sisters. She thinks that now that I have all these new sisters that Im going to forget about her....but Im not going to forget about her but shes gotta understand that I do have other friends too and I have to be there for them just like I always have been for her. I don't know what to do really.
