I did not notice -- it was still linked to the original story when I had last looked at it. I guess this story is better, though it repeats the Fox headline about a "Christmas Tree Tax," and cites the Fox story as a source, which seems odd to me.

But whatever. Thanks for changing the link. I'm now filing this in my "I-really-don't-get-why-this-is-a-big-deal" folder.

To be fair to Mevara, nearly every article I came across regarding this issue earlier today referred to a "Christmas tree tax" .. And it's not as though she said, "damn the Obama Administration! I hate him! Stupid Democrats! They're trying to destroy Christmas!"

By the way.. They're already delaying the implementation of the new fee..

True. Sensationalism and catchy headlines win out.

Of course it's The obamas administrations fault! I do see this as an unnecessary attack on Christmas and Christians by our Muslim president. Why doesn't he pass a burka tax? Huh?

Lol. But seriously, do people even buy real trees anymore? I always thought of it as such a waste.

I know! And I love organizing the branches by color and sticking them into that big, ridiculous-looking green pole. It makes me feel like I've accomplished something once it's all done

Fake ones until recently looked really bad compared to real trees. You also don't get that great pine smell from a fake tree.

If the living-tree consortium wants to tax itself, it should do so.

Taxing the tree pushes the cost to the buyer, who may or may not be willing to pay a *tax* for the privilege of buying a tree.

Absolutely. Artificial trees make the Baby Jesus cry.
