Awwww, I'm so sorry to hear that! I have two Peek-A-Poos who are gettin' on up there, too. Butter is 16-years-old and her son, Baby, is 15-years-old. You'd better believe they're members of the family, and we're just preparing ourselves for this change, because they are so feeble now.

Dogs bring so much happiness families, so it's very tough to have to say goodbye. Be blessed, MSKKG, and just know that you are not alone. I'm sure Barq's is frollicking through doggie heaven now, so happy that he was loved by you.

Thanks, OleMissGlitter. His name is my husband's doing. Barq's is his favorite root beer, and it was bottled on the Miss. Gulf Coast where he is from. Most of the time I called Barq's "Puppy" though.

The loss of a pet is tough partly for the reason AzTheta mentioned. From now on, it will be like we have just come home from a trip and can't get Barq's from the kennel until the next day--I missed him then, and I will definitely miss him now.

I'm sorry for the loss of everyone else's pets, too. Glad that this thread has let us commiserate together. Thanks to everyone again for your compassion and for your uplifting words.

I'm so sorry to hear about Barq's. Feel free to mourn - the unfeeling people who would criticize you about it would criticize someone having a miscarriage.

I was there recently, and have still not completely gotten over my Beautiful Boy. This is knowing that I'll be getting another dog after I move - I will forever miss Buffy's silly ways!
