A terrible (but I can see the humor in it) one, thats not exactly greek related is the t-shirt a couple of guys in XYZ fraternity decided to make for Welcome Week/Move- In. It was something to the extent of

Freshman Girls (on the front)
Get Em While They're Skinny (on the back)

It made headline news in the school paper and people talked about it for months. People started blaming the whole XYZ fraternity, even though most of the members had no clue about it.

I have a friend that is in a fraternity and one of his shirts said his fraternity letters on the front xyz and then on the back it said and I quote "Don't hate me cause you ain't me" I think it is a horrible shirt.

Yikes! That's where I was lucky. XO and Southern Cal have essentially the same colors. (Cardinal and Straw for XO, Cardinal and Gold for USC)

Worst shirt was Bid Day 1988-- white T with red cartoony looking 1950s style woman on it with a bubble abouve her head that said "I always dreamed I'd be a Chi Omega" They were just ugly/cheesy.

Thumbs down What were we thinking

Before I pledged I have seen our rush shirts. If I was a rush at that time I probably would have chosen another house. They were that bright orange, that everyone seems to love, and they had a 40's pin up type girl on the front and it said, "We may not be the cutest guys on campus but..." and on the back it said, "but atleast we've got your momma's cookies!" I have been a brother for almost two years, and I still don't understand them.

Our this fall were just navy with white letters and it said on the front, "Rush Sigma Tau Gamma, we've upped our standards" and on the back it said, "so up yours" not that bad.

We also had ones before that had a really seductive lady on the font, and it said, "You know you wanna" and on the back it said, "Rush Sig Tau" Those werent that bad either.

We had one this fall at our school that said, "XYZ Fraternity Construction Company" and had a picture of a hammer and a nail, under that it said, "We Screw, We Nut, We Bolt" the talk of the campus, for how crude they were, not for how well they worked.

Rush T-Shirts

I don't think anyone rushes because of the the t-shirts, it just gets your letters out there and protrays an image. We looked like idiots with those "cookies" t-shirts, and those guys looked like tools with "XYZ Construction." I dont think anyone has ever rushed because of a t-shirt, but it does make an impression of freshman, and helps or hurts a house's image on campus.

I think that rush shirts have the hugest impact on rush. I know at my school they did. For example Delta Gamma had shirts that were black and on the front it just said RUSH 2000 but the back said, I dream of DG and had a genie on it. All the girls wore them and so did a lot of fraternity guys. Alpha Phi had a different shirt for every day of the week and all of their girls wore them. It made their house look huge and their shirts were really cute. ADPi also did the same but I dont think our shirts were as cute as the other houses, but still during rush the girls knew who we were from walking around campus. Also, a lot of the sororities decorated the cars with things like XYZ Hottie or Sexy XYZ. It was really a fun rush.

I also wanted to say that the guys also had really cute shirts. Kappa Sigs said Go Big, Rush Kappa Sig, Sigma Nu had something with a sexy cartoon drawing. Theta Chi made shirts for girls to wear that said, If I were a guy, I'd be a Theta Chi. Kappa Sig did the same but there's said, The Guys I dig are Kappa Sig. It was really fun. Greeks really stand out at ASU. I really dont understand why you all dont think that T shirts are effective. Whats wrong with your schools. They seem to not be all that fun!

Sundevil, thanks for the OX shirt idea. Tshirts actully do have a big impact. The ones last year said rush theta chi-no gimmick needed. But that is for the good idea thread.

the worst one i have ever gotten, is actully the first one i got. Its from our Mid Year leadership conferce. It is in butt ugly orange and on the left chest it has a magenta jesus fish with our letters inside of it. It wasn't suposed to be a jesus fish but that is was it turned out as. ON the back is a green spiral and a buch of other jesus fish that have the FISH philosophy points on there. The FISH philosophy is some mangement therory that can be applied to recruiment i guess but god, the shirts are awful. I wear it to chapter meettings

We just got a pale yellow philanthropy shirt with teal writing. On the front it just says "Sigma Sigma Sigma" above a picture of a sailboat, and below the sailboat it says "Robbie Page Memorial." Ok, nothing wrong with that, it's kinda cute. The back, in HUGE underlined letters says: "We helped cure polio... What have you done?" I do not like this shirt, and every time we wear it, people ask us how exactly we helped with that.

The other shirt I dislike is a long-sleeved black one with purple lettering. The front says "Some people are born leaders. Some people are born followers." The back says, "Look who's reading the back of my shirt" and then our letters are under it. Ok, a person can only see one side of my shirt at a time, so the back would make NO SENSE!!!

Oh my gosh--SSS1365--the Sigma Sigma Sigma's at Elon did the same kind of shirt, but they put the whole thing on the back. I think it was
"in a world of leaders and followers, you are reading the back of our shirts"

That is to funny with your shirts, though.
I think my least favorite AOTT shirt was for semi formal my junior year. It had this STUPID looking donkey on it and the back said "It was an asskicking good time". We were so pissed because we wanted this really cool sunrise design and the shirt to say "Ain't going down till the sun comes up" or something along those lines, but we had bad seniors that year and they outvoted us. Oh, and one year, Tri Sig had bid day shirts that were DARK purple and read "Idolized, Envied, and Adored". They were really cute but were a little hard to take at times.

This year we had a rush shirt made by our President and had it done at a local company in town (bad idea already...). The shirt came out being a very very light blue (almost powder) when we wanted a navy-ish color. The front design was perfect, however the back design was yellow text with a white border...you can't even see it! I've never worn the shirt, so I think it will definately get passed down to a very *lucky* associate next year!

The worst shirts: Our formal shirt (Beaus and Arrows Ball) which had a cute idea...on the back it said "Don't cry because it's over..."
"Smile because it happened." But then it had this wussy picture of a little boy and a little girl. I can't believe boys will actually wear this for us.
Another cute idea that just didn't come out right: our philanthrophy is a flag football tournament for fraternities called Down N' Dirty. On the back it said "If you're gonna play Down and Dirty, use protection." But the picture killed it. It was just a cartoon of a player in orange and blue.
The best shirt: Our long-sleeved black shirts from our fall date function, Pi Phi Arrested. On the back it has a great graphic of handcuffs and it says "Frisk me, love me, and chain me to an angel." (I helped with that tagline!) The front has the date of the event look like prison numbers. Very cute.
The other best shirt: this year's recruitment shirts. They're baseball tops with a red collar and red sleeves, and on the front in red baseball-style writing, it says Pi Phi in the swirl and then recruitment 02. On the back it says "In a league of our own."

My favorite shirt that I have is our Fall 2001 bid day shirt. The only thing that was wrong with it was the timing. September 11th had just happened and they were camo with D*E*L*T*A*G*A*M*M*A on the front in tan. On the back it said "DID YOU GET DRAFTED??" Bid Day 2001. They were one of the best but we got a little slack about it.

One of the worst that i've seen is the TKE shirts from i think 2000? it's got a beer can on the front with a pile of books and on the back it says...."You can retake a class but you can't relive a great party" RUSH TEKE....

You get good ones and you get bad ones.....thats all you can do.
