Being a good president doesn't mean being neat and organized, it doesn't mean holding all the really big positions to prove that you would be a good pres - it means earning the respect of your chapter and caring about your sisterhood. Ask some sisters who you feel close to/who you can trust for constructive criticism on why you weren't elected pres and what they think you can/should do to show the chapter you would be a good pres. I took this action and it really helped me - my biggest problem was that I wasn't assertive enough. If you are historian, go the extra mile with your position; create new things, etc. to show your chapter that you are full of fantastic ideas and that the sorority really means a lot to you. I'm sorry you didn't get archon....I know how badly you wanted it....but here are a few picker-uppers.

*Go to Pizza Pub and have a chef's salad or wedgie and (most importantly) a fishbowl.
* Put on really loud, angry music (Nirvana is the best) and jump up and down on the bed and scream and get it all out.
* Think about all the things you WON'T have to do...like be impartial, have the added stress, sit through exec board meetings.
*Be the historian, because historians are cool! (OK, I'm biased, since I was one) You can do a lot with any office if you have the ideas and you definitely do!
* Go for a drink with 33girl when you get home on break.

Check your PM, and "always look on the bright side of life" as Monty Python so eloquently said...

I just thought I would add my two cents...obviously i'm biased because the new president is my real little sister, but you know me pretty well...so here goes.

I have always wanted to be president..but never got to do it...Yet, I was probably the most involved member of any sorority. I didn't need to be president to get me where I wanted to be. I liked the Panhellenic issues better at times. And you know I got to be Greek Woman of the Year and never was a president at all...although all of the other candidates were. You don't need to be a president to make an impact...I know this is hard for you now but you will pull through and make a positive impact on our chapter!

Steph, my real little sister, will do a good job with the position...you just need to find a good spot for you! You guys are going to pull through this slump don't worry!!! Keep strong and don't ever give up!!!!

Please email me. I have a sister who understands what you are going through. She wanted President so bad and lost to another girl from her pearl class and who is also her roommate. Kristen wasn't going to run, but everyone wanted her too and it was hard for Emily to find support. I know that she understands your feelings. Emily is Vice-President, but i know it still hurts that she lost the position.

We all get together and play jepordy with the new members to help them with their info... its so much fun, last time I even donned a mustache and a nametag that said Alex!

But I packed up MY jepardy set for the last time last night!

I know how you feel,

I really wanted to be on exec but am not eligable. I found out a month or so ago & it still hurts. I'm looking on the brighter side of things now and proving to everyone that I'm dedicated to XO by keeping my spirit up and staying involved. I think it would be easy to say "bah,

screw them" and distance yourself. By keeping involved and trooping through it will show everyone A) what they missed out on and B) how you care about more important things such a your house's well being. I know it sucks, but you will be ok
