I'm snuggling in with a ton of books and some really good cocoa.
Grrrr I hate how a couple of hours north is the difference between snow and what I've got going on in my front yard right now.

I don't even like snow, but it would be way better than cold rain (and ice tonight I'm sure). Ice is just the worse...it isn't even fun to look at from the warm living room.

Thanks for the pics! I really love the DG house. It is what I really picture when I think sorority house.

That is my one biggest downside of Penn State...lack of sorority houses. Not that I know where the money would come from or where the houses would even go (actually I do kind of have an idea for where) but if I were to get a chance to live an alternative experience for awhile, that would be something that would really interest me.

We don't have them either. I'm an alum of course but I would be willing to go to bat for the actives if a Greek row ever came into the picture. (I don't think it will on our campus though, at least not for a very long time).

I didn't even get to use my 4WD today. I never do. I just want to so I feel all badass. Instead I found out that even the one 24 hour restaurant we have in town closes at the first sign of ice (and btw there is still no ice, only rain) and I should have bought something besides bread and PB&J.

My office is closed again. I'd be excited except I'm starting to get cabin fever. There are only so many movies my husband and me can watch or board games to play before you get a strong desire to see other signs of civilization.

If we had paid weather days, I would not be here right now.

If they try to pay any of my coworkers who didn't come in, I'll be POed...not that there is really a chance of that happening.

Plus side to all of this is getting to wear my super-cute knee high CL by Laundry boots for a REASON.

I totally hate winter, so I've already been thinking ahead (way ahead) to where to retire where it would be milder than the northeast. Someplace in the deep south was on the list, but now even that can't be counted on. Sigh.

These past few winters have been flukes. Generally, our winters are very mild.

Even the cold snaps only last for a few days at most. We're supposed to get back into the 50s and 60s in the next week or so.

Could be working at home but why? Nobody else is.

Wow, what beautiful pictures! I especially love the one of the Chi Omega house.

I wish I had driven down Milledge to take some pictures of our houses, but I'm too chicken to drive in the snow/ice.

On another note, the AOPi house in the first pic of it looks JUST like the one at UGA. Do they purposely make them look similar on each campus or is that just coincidence?

Totally coincidence. The AOII house at Ole Miss has had a few facelifts from the original 1950s square box (aka taco hut) it use be! I couldn't get the new additions in the picture that are to the left of the front door. I have seen the AOII house at UGA a few times in person and they are different. They both are brick and have columns but totally different.

Back in the day, nearly every house had a "snow picture" in their Rush slide show - all of the houses are pretty, but covered in snow, they look magical - it never failed to elicit an "ooh" from the rushees. I rushed in 1993, after the blizzard, and there were some spectacular slides.

And you know, you could *walk* down Milledge...classes are out today.
