I don't have a complete understanding of the houses at Columbia but I don't get the impression that one is a members of an organization that runs the house like we are with fraternities and sororities. Isn't it more of a common interest living situation? Similar to an honors dorm situation at other schools? Not a lifelong organization governed by an outside organization? Do members within that house have the capability of suspending someone's membership? Do they take oaths to live to a higher standard?
One of the reasons that we, as Greeks, are judged by a different standard is that we CLAIM to have a higher standard.
As for drug use at Ivies, I figure it's just like high schools... the more money the students have, the more expensive drugs they can afford. So, in my part of metro Detroit, the drug of choice is marijuana.. in wealthier suburbs it is more likely to be Cocaine/designer drugs.
