I agree, Drolefille. One of the goals of the graduate school experience is to make every bit of stress count but for more than free room and board.

The second one is more awesome than the first. The Google description reads "where here for you, when you say 'who can I pay to write my master's dissertation.'"

Good luck and please please please, I beg you, let us know how your thesis turns out.

Some schools define this differently. An RA and a TA are as you described, but then a GA is none of the above. GA's are usually administrative work, and very often outside of your department. Many that I see posted at my school are for computer programming work of one sort or another. They do, however, come with the same type of tuition waivers as RAs or TAs.

In many departments, masters students only get funded if there is money leftover after the phd students are taken care of. Some might suggest that a student looking to get a masters should apply as a phd student to get funding, and then "change her mind" once she is accepted. Also, if you want an assistantship, you must get your application in long before the real application deadline.

The bottom line is that funding is very different from school to school and department to department, and if you are applying to grad schools, you should find a way to get funding info sooner rather than later.

Yeah, I meant to type "includes TA and RA." The GA is included in what I said about getting a job within or outside of your department (i.e. admissions). I jumbled that all up, thanks.

Question

First of all hello ladies I am new to the forum and an aspirant of your sorority. Currently I’m an undergrad senior at a PWI. BGLOs are active on my campus but I have my doubts about the AKA chapter on my campus. I am sure they are active and but I don’t see a whole lot of them participate in step shows and collaborate with the other organizations and things like that. They do however, come together to support their own events. Now I know being apart of a BGLO is not all about strolling and stepping but from what I understand it is a large part of the culture and the experience as a member. I definitely want to join for sisterhood, scholastics, and service but I definitely want the full experience and I'm not sure if I will get that with this chapter. I plan to attend grad school in the south and I would much rather pledge there especially since I’m close to graduating here and my primary focus needs to be my grades, but I was told by another aspirant that graduate members do not get as much respect as those who pledged undergraduate, not necessarily regarding AKA but the BGLO community overall. I have to make a decision soon. I’m so confused
