There has already been precedence.

On American Idol, David Archuleta cost Idol money when while singing Stand By Me, he ad-libbed "To all you beautiful girls." Which is Sean Kingston's song. They had to pay royalties.
That is beyond stupid. I'm pretty sure the Beach Boys did not create that line, it was probably in existence long before they sang it.

Eh, i've never heard anyone say it. Perhaps it's regional, but I wouldn't consider it Texas slang the way people generally say "Coke" instead of "soda" or "pop".

I clearly know nothing of "Texas slang" because everyone here says 'soda.' The only time you hear someone say "coke" is if they are asking for a Coca-Cola/Pepsi.

Gaga = mediocre singer made weird by label because mediocre doesn't sell a ton of records.

Similar to a Madonna.

Add weird = more people buying records.

Also, "Alejandro" sounds exactly like several Ace of Base songs. lol. Total ripoff.

Fail

Sorry to fail you, but Gaga as a singer isn't Mediocre. As an artist yes.

Gaga performance before she got big:

Unfortunately her choice to be mediocre is a testimony to both the music industry and the people who buy her music.

She chooses to be mediocre because she knows the formula.

Yeah the first time I saw the video, my mouth dropped. It took me a couple of times listening for me to believe it.

I went through an Ace of Base phase (I had broken up with my long-term bf - "The Sign" was totally my theme song). The first time I heard this song on the radio (I caught only part of it), I thought the AOB had returned.

I guess I don't "get" Lady Gaga. Her gimmick is just a bit too much for me, you know? Maybe it's because I'm old now.

That reminds me of how 50Cent (I hate him) admitted that his mainstream lyrics are sucky because that's what the public buys. They don't want to hear REAL hip hop with REAL emcees and the stuff that emcees do for mix tapes. The REAL hip hop with REAL emcees don't make money.
(I only like the REAL hip hop with REAL emcees who don't make money...I won't spend my money on anything less.)

No one made him or Gaga sell out, they chose to value the money and fame more than their credibility as artists. I mostly listen to indie music, and I can't for the life of me understand why people listen to Gaga, Perry, Nickleback, etc.

As an artist (though not of the musical variety) I can tell you that if someone gives me millions upon millions to paint a certain way, I'll do it. Out of those "indie" bands many will end up "selling out". Why not? My momma told me before my first art class to do what the teacher said to get a good grade-and then I could come home and paint/draw whatever the hell I wanted. Same thing. Make millions by playing the game. Do what you want otherwise. It's a job. Artists aren't better than the rest of the population and aren't required to adhere to some mythical calling just because they're creative...or just simply good at playing an instrument.

That being said, Nickleback can suck it.

YES! none of my friends believed me when I kept saying, "I swear this sounds like a song straight from the 90's." I, however, couldn't remember what artist had similar tracks, but thanks to you, I can now show my friends exactly what I meant.
