Question Question

To all of you that are in Graduate or Professional School (or have completed graduate or professional school), what advice would you offer those of us that are still in undergrad in terms of getting prepared for it???

Please include:
*The type of program you are studying or intend to study
*What you plan on doing w/ this degree

Thanx!!

Hello ladies,

If you are pursuing an advanced degree in engineering (I did a MS), I suggest you offer the professors that are doing research in your field of interest, to do research for them. By the time you are ready to apply to grad school you may be able to ask them a solid recommendation, or they may be able to offer you an assistantship. (It worked for me)
Also get to know the graduate students in your school, they will be able to tell you what it is like to be in grad school (work load etc…)
Of course make sure your grades are as high as you can, especially in those classes that require a project.
Make sure you do some soul searching. Grad school is no joke, especially the first semester. Make sure that this is really what you want to do.
For those of you that want to go straight to the Ph-D, if it is in engineering I strongly suggest you complete your Masters thesis. I have seen too many cases where students get discouraged and drop out without having completed at least the MS.
And while in grad school, hang out with your classmates, all of them, Indian, Chinese, White, whatever. It is difficult to survive grad school alone.

Most importantly, get in the habit of praying. Only the One Above can get you through anything!
