Google failed me on Alpha Phi Psi - I'm guessing someone (either the author or someone on the paper's staff) meant to say Omega Psi Phi.

Why does she remind me of that trifling Mona from As the Sands Burn?

That was the first thing I thought of when I read this.
I am also wondering if horrible grammar is a co-morbidity of a sense of entitlement...
Did anyone read the comments at the bottom? They're all "Great article! Well-written and total correct!"
Now, I'm not privy to NPHC happenings (nor am I pretending I am), but didn't she just toss the first aspirant rule out the window, that of discretion?

Lastly, a good friend once told me that, "he's drinking from a well he ain't dig." I think it's time you stop riding the glory of your mother's acheivements and start diggin' a well of your own.

Sigh....You're mom and Greek family members should have taught you about discretion...and the finer points of grammar.

The readers comments sum it up in a nutshell....

I really could have stopped at the words "sacrifice" and "parent." My question is what her mom thought once she saw this.

You know it! The chancla is worse than the belt. With the belt, you know you're going to get smacked in the behind. With the chancla, you might lose an eye if you're not agile!
But back to OP: Even if she is angry, you would think she would have thought twice about publishing a piece like this given that so many of her family members are in the sorority she wanted to be part of. Did she not think about offending them, and/or embarrassing them?

And you would think the editor would have had better news judgment than to publish such self-indulgent, badly written bilge.

Wow, finally read the piece. So Essentially she should have been selected just because she was the daughter of a member. Don't let details like filling out the proper paperwork get in the way.
