NCAA Brackets
I generally don't watch much NCAA Basketball, however, when March Madness and the pools begin I gain interest. About three years ago I tried writing an algorithm to help forecast my picks. That year I almost won up until the National Championship game. There really is no exact science, as in the case of Northern Iowa and KU last weekend, but as a general rule of thumb I like to set benchmark criteria based on team strength (measured by the type of opponent schedule), injuries, coaching and of course rankings. Again, there's never a guarantee on the outcome. Some of the most random brackets I've seen have crushed people to the final four. I wouldn't suggest spending a lot of money from guys online. Do your homework and take your time on at least 1-2 brackets and then massage any others to whatever your gut thinks. This year I'm in the lead amongst my colleagues but I'm holding off before I get too cocky.
Cheers,
