we're known as the brat family, by the entire sorority. everyone tells me and my big are complete brats, but my grandbig and my little really aren't. it's just kind of fun, we're getting bratz letters made up and everything. no one else in the sorority has a family name.
my best friend is a phi sig and they have the animal names. she's a bear/fish/swan.

we currently have 5 families:
Pato - Spanish for duck
Anatidae - Latin derivation for duck
Sorella Anatra - Italian for 'Sister Duck'
Holanina - a combination of Holstein and Chianina
River - from Garth Brooks song The River
Our chapter mascot is a yellow duck. Also we are an agricultural sorority (Sigma Alpha) so one of the families was named after two breeds of cattle.

Our families are known by the founder's name. "Debbie's family", "Rachael's family", etc. (yawn)
I am a founder, and unfortunately my only little sister deaffiliated, so I'm all by myself. I therefore declare us the Cat Family as I love cats. I've been an alumna for what seems like forever, but I would so buy and wear letters with a kitty print fabric.

Those colors are in order of the way they are on the hoodie. The first is the hoodie color, followed by the outline, followed by the block color.

We just gained the Green Lantern family: Black, Neon Green, Black!

We call our families by the name of the oldest girl who is currently an active (and both if there's two lines that combined)... mine goes back to my great-great-grandbig. It's kind of neat way to honor the girls who have been in the chapter for a long time.

Most of the families in my chapter do this too, but a few have names...
- Diva Fam (one branch of my family)
- Da FamFam
- Mafia Fam
- Blue Witches
- Silver Belles
- Money Fam (as in, "We are so money.")
- MegaFam (a gigantic family that originated with some explosive chapter growth when over a few years one sister took triplets, who all took twins, who took twins, etc... then got bigger this year when chapter growth evened out, but some Littles got two Bigs and families combined)

We have had multiple family names throughout our chapter's history but the two that are active right now are
The Sheffield Family
The Bad Boys Family
I'm a Bad Boy.
